While it's said that it's tin foil hat - which implies conspiracy. A plan carried out in secret. What else were some of their actions in particular to trading oil futures when quietly requesting permission to begin. I don't like the word or the meme, but what are you supposed to think when people leave GS and go into the higher echelons of gov't and then change the rules that make the company that they have just left far more cash than they otherwise would able to have done?

I have no objection to companies making money, but why do it in such an obviously destructive way that pushes up prices across teh globe for everyone else?
Whilst we're riffing the "GS is baaad" theme, relevant to present economic turmoil, a question?

Which organisation pocketed a 'kin huuuuuge fee for warehousing Greek debt in order that they could (fraudulently) enter the Euro?

Answer on notes attached to a housebricks, to be hurled at an EU cabinet minister of your choice. No prizes.

I got the low down on this guy today after a meeting in the city, someone actually new him personally. Alessio Rastani is of Italian decent but was born and bought up in North London. He's girlfriend is American but he is not.

He is an 'intro' speaker at this borderline fraudulent personal development 'investment education' company.

http://www.wininvesting.com/

He hasn't yet graduated onto actually teaching trading, he just does the free events and gets commission if he signs anyone up to the course, apparently his results aren't great. And he has been there for YEARS.

Hence why after four years trading net assets are £10,048 -- in the red,

The guys is a hobby trader that doesn't even trade.

He decided to take on an American persona a few years back because he thought it gave him more credibility. So pretty much everything about this guy is fake and delusional.

You could not really get a better definition of looser.

The most disgusting thing is that the Beeb interviewed him without first checking out who he was.

And their economics guru and scare mongerer in cheif Peston fell for it hook line and sinker. He is one of the contributing factors of economic collapses for putting the fear of god into everyone with his doom and gloomery. And the fact he jumped on board then back peddled on twitter doesn't do any more for my already low opinion of him.

That just makes it even more amusing. We should invite him onto the PIIGS thread, he will fit right in smile

What I can't understand is how/why the BBC invited him, of all people - what happened to that hedge fund manager who was doing the rounds a while ago - he was on Newsnight, QT etc. At least he had a better *profile* ...

Probably too busy making money.

Seems if you know what you're doing (or say you do) you can make money in the good times and the bad times, so really they're just *times* ...

Mad.

Good reading

Attitude on those guys is extraordinary.... "We are doing God's work..." "Destination wedding... cuts down the number of poor people you have to invite.." etc etc. Doesn't exactly make them out to be pleasant people.

Its like Patrick Bateman's twitter feed

  1. 1: "Have you seen the new Porsche 911?" #2: "Yeah, in my rearview mirror."
  1. 1: "If Al-Qaeda is the one shorting our stock, I'm gonna be so pissed."
hehe

What makes you think its fake? Could be could not be. We don't have proof either way.

And yet you think that you should draw conclusions from it? If I created a twitter account titled "things that god told me today" and then posted all the things that I apparently was told by god today, would you believe that too? Nothing to prove that it's not real after all.

Steady on! Who really cares whether it's real or not? I merely said it was interesting.

Circumstantial evidence shows it to be within a decent shout of being real. There's the links from financial sites which tell of a GS internal investigation, then there's the supposed interview with the man concerned - unless the person concerned has gone to lengths to create the stuff around it. Another link claims it's a hoax. Good on him if so!

Anyway:

http://www.businessinsider.com/goldman-twitter-201...

http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2011/08/12/meet-the-go...

Then again, it's also within a decent shout of being a fake! Even if it isn't real, why do you have to shout and stamp your feet like a big killjoy. "I KNOW the truth! It's nothing but a pack of lies!". Well done. No flies on you etc. If so, it's one of the things on the internet that someone has fun doing, and other people have fun reading. Live a little. Have some imagination. Stop berating people for no reason.

I wasn't berating the twitter feed - it's mildly entertaining. I was first bemused that anyone would form an opinion based on it, and then I was just perplexed at the complete self contradiction from Otispunkmeyer.
