The film "School for Secrets" is quite a good yarn about the discovery of Radar. A bit dated but the stella cast of long gone British Actors gives it a quaint charm. Worth seeking out IMO. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038911/

We'd have been fooled without it. Sea ion would have been down our throat in QuickTime. Another innovative genius gone from the world.
Yep. Let's just hope we all have more such people waiting in the wings for when they are needed; and yes, they will be needed.
Not to de-value anyone's effort but really Sea Lion wouldn't have stood a chance.

Compare the effort, preparation and resources employed at D-Day with the capabilities the Germans had in 1940. They had very few naval units, no landing craft a fraction of the men and aircraft.

Also compare how long and the number of heavy bombers it took to degrade German industry. The Germans didn't really have a credible capability to heavily degrade UK aircraft production. Given that the RAF could husband resources out of the range of German fighters they could hit any invasion fleet with substantial numbers of aircraft causing significant disruption.

Well, supremacy of the air would have been a huge bonus to Sealion. The Channel, plus lack of air superiority really did put the dampers on the whole thing.
