I can confirm some of the details from the start of her story (even the bit about no one introducing visitors to her!) - she's got my sympathy.

So she had an 85k a year job which she gave up to go on tv to get s 100k job, which she got, and they then wanted to pay her 100k pa to not do a lot.

Hard life!

The actual position earned by the winner does look a bit disappointing, doesn't it? Having gambled away your current job and beavered away to win the dream position I can understand you being more than a little miffed if the prize turned out to be a bit of a non-job with no clear role, responsibilities, direction or support.

If you've got a bit of spunk about you - which you have demonstrably having won the competition - you give it a go and if things don't improve you leave. Probably leaving very frustrated and disappointed.

Quite why you'd enter the competition to begin with is another matter.

Agreed, but then it's not business, it's entertainment, only Big Brother types would enter surely? The basic concept seems to be the same, except in addition to exploitable psychological flaws you need to be an over-achiever for Daddy Sugar to either crush as part of the show or later over 12 months in a 'job'. A few decent types will get caught up. Presumably the winner's Z-list celeb status can be used by those with a talent and stomach for such things, and good luck to them all if they can do well out of it.

Exactly - I think that all concerned should assume that contestants will use the show as a "leg up" in any way they can.

Can you think of ANY contestant on The Apprentice that you would have actually employed and trusted to tie their own shoe laces in the mornings?

She's rather naive if she seriously thinks the labour peer is after an apprentice. It's a game show - he just wants his fee for doing it, and her role is to keep quiet whilst the prize money is doled out and then disappear.

I suspect the new prize format is mainly intended to keep the winner out of the way to avoid problems caused by them thinking they should be put in charge of something.

Yep sounds about right, Alan Sugar doesn't really have a "business empire" into which a 100k salary jobs can just be found.

The current format does however make me think why not save a lot of time and effort and just enter dragons den (or find an angle investor).

Err, I don't think he MAKES the show does he, he's a hired hand like anyone else - if it wasn't him it would be another such *business Czar* with too much time on his hands ... who when you look at it, has made a few dodgy decisions himself over the years, and most of his fortune is due to property values isn't it?

So I'm not sure he can insist on anything. At the end of the day that is the prize. REAL entrepreneurs wouldn't go anywhere near this, they're far too busy trying to make it on their own through their own endeavours. They don't need this st.

It amuses me that all of these people don't realise that everyone they are going to work with has just watched them being a back-stabbing bh/asshole on prime time TV for ten weeks. Plus they've seen all the newspapers dig up all the lies they've told on their CVs.

They then wonder why, when they get to their dream job, nobody likes them, no one trusts them and they don't get intergrated into any teams.

And they all claim to business geniuses...rolleyes

Exactly, also real intrapreneurs are too busy slithering up their employer's corporate greasy pole, but as long as nobody scares the horses, no harm is done.
