Cameron still doesn't get the point on immigration...

I'm not sure if he's just playing to the crowd but he needs to start listening. Discussing the current situation with various people the problem isn't with non EU migrants but rather the few million EU workers who turned up over the last few years all eager to work for half your pay and no questions asked. I guess being a europhile he doesn't want to wake up and smell the coffee!
We now have a situation with mass youth unemployment as the lower skilled jobs are all taken by a none stop conveyor belt of EU migrants. The double edged sword to this is that by taking low paid jobs the EU migrants will get tax credit/child benefit etc so we end up paying benefits twice. Once for a young unemployed British person and secondly top up payments for a family from the EU. Another problem is that many of the economic migrants from the EU come here to work for a short/medium period and spend little money within our economy.

It really is simple:
No admittance without a job or a real place of education (ie not some sham language college in Bradfordistan).
If you lose your job, you have a month to find another one, or you GTFO.
All migrant workers must show that they have private healthcare on admission.
No admittance to relatives without a job, or eductaion place.
Apply it to everyone without a britiash passport including EU citizens.
Job jobbed.

So how does that solve the problem of loads of poles turning up to work their arse off while our own home grown workforce happily sits at home watching Jeremy kyle.No admittance without a job or a real place of education (ie not some sham language college in Bradfordistan).

Immigration is caused by poles being better workers then brits

Immigration is caused by Poles being better educated, better mannered, and speak better English than Brits

There won't be benefits for those who choose not to work. Foodstamps and workhouses, or starvation tend to be better motivators than social workers and schools.Immigration is caused by poles being better workers then brits

we are not permitted to prevent EU citizens coming here. In the same way that other EU Countries can not stop us going there.
That's a little bit like saying "I'm not permitted to walk on the cracks in the pavement" - it only follows because we have voluntairly agreed to adopt silly or unsuitable rules in the first instance.Digga said:

Agreed, but my point is unless and until we come out of the EU (can't be soon enough IMHO) then blaming him for something he can not fix is pointless.Of course, you could suggest that he could allow us a referendum on the EU, that would solve the problem quickly enough..

Immigrants get paid maybe a little less than uk workers but not enough to blame lower wages for invasion .
Contrary to what you believe most polish people live in private rent with at least 5 people in a 3 bed house , not by choice but because it's the only thing they can afford . They work hard and earn their money , I know employers who would love Brits to be the same but they rather go to uni and expect a 30k job just for being there .
The only friend I have who lost his job to a eastern European is the same plumber who in his words " I ain't been to college for 3 years to work for 120 quid a day " apparently that's little money for his years of experience , being 26 and all that

I agree with what has been said so far. I think the problem lies with our own population to a certain extent.
Plus, I personally wouldn't like to see us pull out of an agreement with the EU as I would still like the option of living and working in another EU country 'no questions asked' as would a lot of people from the UK I suspect. It would be a shame to lose that just to 'stop some foreigners'.

We are a country of immigrants. Well, unless you are Welsh, some Scottish, and some Cornish. Immigration in itself isn't a problem, though we do need to remember "No room in Rome for a Roman".
Yes but those early immigrants - Vikings, Romans, Saxons etc. - got here on (pretty brutal, I admit) merit.I don't think most people generally mind (legal) immigrant workers and entrepreneurs. They just don't like loafers and benefit tourists.
Neither to most people, given the facts of individual circumstances, mind immigration of refugees. But most will object to the immigration of despots, gansters, bandits, rapists, slave traders, sex traffickers, pirates and other criminals who have been instrumental in driving said refugees from their homelands.
Sadly, immigration without control under Labour has saddled us with a disproportionate measure of the worst immigrants.

You think so do you. Its got nothing to do with the fact they will work for half the wage that UK people will, and then send it back home because its still a lot compared to what they can earn back home, and how do you know how hard these poles work? Worked with any recently? I have, and believe me they are not all they are cracked up to be. Their work needs constant checking as they are not used to completing work to the standard that the UK requires. Its people like you with your unproved crap narrow minded left wing statements that fk this country up, not the immigrants. You wanna shut up till you know what your on about!
But they are entitled to the minimum wage just like anyone else. So how are they driving wages down? Most eastern Europeans I've come into contact with work in the service industry - supermarkets, fast food outlets, hotels, restaurants etc. Are we really suggesting that if they were not around then wages would be £12/hour for these jobs, because after all 'Poles work for half the wage of a UK person'.Edited by Victor McDade on Monday 10th October 12:50
