My brother and I used to do that at school.

It would be end-of-seasonal stuff, like creme eggs going cheap, and cans. There was one can machine in the school and it was a long walk away. Selling cold cans on the field at lunchtime in summer brought in loads of money. Near end-date crisps were sold off cheap in newsagents so we bought them in bulk too. We got to the point where we were both taking a full extra "school" bag full of stuff.

Eventually the headmaster officially asked us to stop, because we were affecting the tuck shop's takings. D'oh.

Really? you think the school bully taxing him is somehow not in the real world but giving backhanders to teachers is? hehe

Yeah...
Don't you have some crying over being insulted on Xbox Live to do?
I assume you're referring to a thread I started following some particularly hefty racist abuse? In which at no point did I 'cry' about being insulted?

Come on Oakey, don't be silly. People in glass houses and all that...

Erm, you started it, not me. We were having a sensible discussion before you rode in on your bandwagon.

Sense of humour bypass today? smile

I admit my wit is not quite rapier-sharp or cutting-edge, but it was just a little stab at a joke about how you would enforce your suggested protection racket. 'Tis the cut-throat world of PH we live in I suppose.

Which would have been fair enough had it been used in a witty manner but it came across as someone responding smilarily with 'oxo tower' or 'nuke from orbit' in an attempt to fit in.

Besides which, school bullying sort of goes along the lines of "Give us your money or you get a smack in the face". Let's at least be realsitic.

It came across to you as an attempt to 'fit in'. To me, it was just a little piss-take, and certainly not devoid of wit (well, not completely anyway).

Apologies if my remarks were a little too cutting for you. hehe

I was doing this 20 years ago. Sold my lunch to the fat kids they got fatter I got richer. No such thing as healthy eating back in those days. The kid should be rewarded and put on a Business course not suspended.

Michael Phelps has one of the worst diets in the world - is he unhealthy?
In some ways yes as he's taking in a load of old crap (albeit mixed in with some decent food). I think the press are a bit OTT with his diet as it probably isn't that bad. The term health is a broad brush but this side of his health ain't that great.

I think he can get away with it though as he's at the peak of physical fitness so burns loads of calories during exercise. It's like cycling and eating shed loads of jelly babies. Hardly full of decent nutrition but lots of useful energy.

But personally I think the school was right. We are basically free do do what we want as long as we're prepared to face the consequences. He did what he liked and is now facing the consequences. It ain't rocket science.

To be honest, having a warped business mind is easy. We can all make millions for selling stuff that we shouldn't. It's doing it properly that takes real initiative. This lad has no special talent whatsoever.
