Telegraph nanny knows best.

Jesus christ! I thought we had got rid of nanny state crap like this when Winky was given his marching orders.

I don't understand the problem with porn, if someone wants to watch it, then what is it to do with government?

Blocking access to the untaxed sources is just the first step.

"Add every the population of Britain to the population of France, and what do you get?"

Bad grammar?

Hmm, I worry about any Tory Government seeking to interfere in our lives (though I conflict with myself when I say that if there were paedo websites I'd be happy for them to be shut down....).

What's wrong with porn?

Filter out the lefties I say, far more destructive to society.

Also the numbers that I get from a quick Google search suggest that the combined population of the UK & France would not amount to 150 million.

So customers signing up to a few ISP's will have the option to permanently block all porn?

Yeah right, like dad is going to let that happen hehe

I suspect the big players will bundle the porn access with high bandwidth or other bloke thing so you aren't signing up to the porn explicitly, you just get it with the x, y and Z

What an utterly dire approach, appealing to the snap judgement, 'what's your favorite biscuit' brigade. This technology is not a tool that's going to unload the responsibility for parents onto the ISP, parents still need to keep an eye on what their kids are up to, and simple things like keeping computers in a family area are methods that can work. Little Jimmy will still get round this with a proxy, or even, just download it of torrents/newsgroups, given the chance, but he might not when mums in the corner watching Eastenders.
