He is possibly the only person at the beeb that gives everyvody a hard time yet he is also the only political interviewer that keeps experiencing technical difficulties.
So why don't they fire the right wing tory scumbag if he gives labour a hard time?McWigglebum4th said:

It's fruitcake loon-ery to keep the BBC as it is.
Funded by a regressive tax, the BBC then uses this tax revenue to compete against private business.
There's no way Radio 1 et al can be justified. Even more so the local stations who directly compete against small independent radio.
Privatise the BBC almost entirely.
There is a place for BBC2 and Radio 4/World Service, everything else should be sold.
Before i start i will say radio 1 is fking dreadfulFunded by a regressive tax, the BBC then uses this tax revenue to compete against private business.

But why should the government fund radio 2 and radio 4 but not radio 1?
Flame away, I couldn't give a rolling doughnut

Neil has said several times, on Twitter, that his team have tried to get an interview with the main party leaders (and Balls/Osborne) but they all refuse to do so yet they are happy to speak to the likes of Andrew Marr and Evan Davis.

Balls has done a few interviews with Neil and without fail has been made to look a fool (not difficult). The main party leaders won't go near him because he knows more detail about their policies than they do. There are some interviews on YT that he did during the last round of party conferences which show just how vacuous these people are.The worst bit is that Neil isn't any kind of genius - he just researches policies & figures and asks pertinent questions, and those fking idiots have NO idea what the answers are. It genuinely feels like he's put more thought into it than they have.

Now imagine if radio was entirely in private hands, do you think that there would be *more* radio stations providing this content or fewer? I suggest that no private radio stations would cover the breadth of the BBC output, they would just use the bandwidth to provide umpteen variations on their current output. A recent trip to the states illustrated to me what an entirely privately run radio service would be like, hundreds of stations broadcasting from jukeboxes with no curation or input from DJs at all. Never mind the quality, feel the width!
Finally, it's amusing that whenever people here want to privatise the BBC, they generally want to keep the bits *they* use untouched. i.e. the previous comment about privatise all the radio stations except R2 & R4.

Think Capitol and Classic FM. 'nuff said, right? Not forgetting that independent pirate radio was instrumental in creating a 'youth' BBC channel.Just because a monolithic tax supported leviathan can indulge in filling the airwaves with many genres doesn't make it good. Just big.
Today we have a plethora of mechanisms to access moving images and/or audio streams - who needs DJ's ?

funny you should say that, it's my experience of the variety of choice in the US that makes me realise how neutered the business is in the UK
maybe the thought of going up against a massive corporation puts people off atarting their own station.I my opinion the licence fee should be for airwave management only, radio and TV channels can be provided by others just as good.
