Political bias at BBC - something has to be done surely

Why are there never plays about the devastation of profligate spending or not having nuclear weapons? Why are there plays on Radio 4 about the Miners Strike (within the last month!) and not about the jobs destroyed by the unions?
Balanced broad content? From the BBC?
Are you stark raving mad?
The irony with the overt politcally biased content on R4 is that many listeners see straight though it, unlike the result of their targeting of the wider public via their other channels.
I find myself switching off R4 ever more frequently these days. Is quality topical, unbiased content so hard to produce these days?
A snapshot of Radio 4's schedule last Tuesday while I was driving across Somerset.
Part two of three of a series of radio plays called "Stage Left" about a radical left-wing theatre group.
All the left-wing group members were the principled goodies; the odd character that deviated from the 'true path' in to the commercial sector was portrayed as weak or greedy. It was beyond caricature.
Making History - two pieces: the first on a newly unearthed archive of photos on 1950s-60s Birmingham. These were worthy of note because (a) they were of black and Asian immigrants, and (b) because they were taken by a woman. A woman! Hooray! The second piece was on the historical context of the new Dad's Army film. This was a good piece of cinema because the female characters were more prominent than in the TV series (hooray!) and in the finale they save the day when the incompetent men don't (two hoorays!).
Finally, Costing The Earth (during which thankfully I got to my destination): a programme on how Climate Change is causing flooding, and whether we should upgrade our infrastructure or just let everything go underwater.
It was like being hit over the head with a rolled up copy of the Guardian for two hours.

Tripped over this after BBC This Week - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b07056d1/hard...
Very funny 10 minutes on Today this morning where John Humphreys was interviewing two very articulate women representing the engineering and tech sectors.
He tried more and more angles to try and get the "we're all dooooomed" and "the government is failing" answer, but they resolutely refused to play ball as said how well the industries were doing, how it was a long term investment and how it was an exciting time for them.

That common-room-lefty economist Simon Jack was interviewing someone from a house builder the other morning, and it covered the housing shortage in this country. He tried more and more angles to try and get the "we're all dooooomed" and "the government is failing" answer, but they resolutely refused to play ball as said how well the industries were doing, how it was a long term investment and how it was an exciting time for them.
All his interviews have to include a question that concerns the EU referendum or the Tory Party's economic decisions, so he asked this house builder if there was a skills shortage that migration would alleviate.
The interviewee replied something along the lines of "increasing migration wouldn't be a brilliant solution to the housing shortage, Simon".

You have to be kidding, PH has always been full of bickering and bhing and I've been coming here since it was all fields and TVR nutters.
When I joined the place was great for about 12 months - I don't know what happened after that......http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-35372869

BBC has decided to run a manifesto tracker to hold the government to account. There was never any thought of this during 1997/2010.

Avid readers of this thread probably won't agree. I thought Andrew Marr gave Labour's Gisela Stuart a fair hearing this morning, considering she is very Eurosceptic.

That's just the ultimate paradox for the BBC. Do you attack for EuroScepticism or Love for Labour. Have a guess which way they decidedhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03jhyl1

So? A pivotal piece in Brum's history discussed and the reverse of 70's sexist policies to describe a film showing how women were promintemly involved, what is wrong with that? Why do you think it's a left wing thing discussing this? What would you have instead? Some ppl are interested in all aspects of socity, I look at my home town in West London and look at the whole history of it, Asian immigration was the obvious one but then also finding out that Led Zeppelin played in one of the local boozers is another. Every snapshot of history appeals to someone. Johnnytheboy said:

WTF the wrong with that? You know we give millions of tax payers to rich land owners to allow for shooting grouse , these ppl also divert rivers off their land, it needs to be discussed but why is it a left wing topic and not a national one? Yes, climate change is happening, it's not a myth, but hey blinker yourself if you want.Johnnytheboy said:
