Sadly some people can't seem to see the subtle political messages in the vast majority of BBC programs (not just the news).

There's always got to be a minority being outcast by a majority, who in turn are painted out to be hethens, thugs and lower class.

Then there's the soaps, always on point with the latest news, ready to swing public opinion on things like privacy, the internet, racial issues, knife crime, LGBT issues, etc etc etc etc....... It's all part of the brainwashing, get those messages into peoples heads without them realising it and before they ahve chance to form their own opinions.
It's not just a bit unhinged but this is also a tad arrogant. You seem to think that you are obviously so clever that you can spot these subtle political messages that the masses can't, they must be thick right?

Or just maybe and I know its hard to comprehend but there is no bias and you are so biased yourself so are actively looking for anything you think is biased.

As with all daft conspiracy theories they usually fall down when asked "to what end" ?
I take it this also applies to the Momentum twitter/fb mob who view the BBC as a right wing mouth piece and complain incessantly about an anti Corbyn bias?

Yes it does.

What that does show is that the BBC have got it right if some people think its biased to the left and some people think its biased to the right.

Because everyone's opinion is as measured and well thought out as each others?

If 40 Nazi's say the BBC is too left wing and 40 Conservatives say it is too right wing where on the left/right scale is the BBC?

Presumably in your scenario, it would be left of the nazis and right of the conservatives? So mid to far right but not ultra right?

Yep - I made a complaint about the following article a month or so back

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-43841859

It's talking about local community volunteers - but then goes on to cite the global road death stat - presumably to make the article seem more shocking - considering the UK has amongst the safest roads in the world. 1.25 million people is a hell of a lot.......the article probably wouldn't have had the same shock factor if they stated the figure for the UK is ~1700. It's not even like the 1.25 million can be taken as a representative average - because just about every single country in the whole world has a higher death rate on the roads.

It also states "five people are killed on Britain's roads each day. Speed is a contributing factor in around half of fatal road collisions".

I challenged this statistic - because the official DFT report explicitly states that speed is a contributing factor in only 22% of fatal collisions.

The reply I got to the complaint states that the BBC apparently got the 50% figure off the metropolitan police force - so that's what they were sticking with (this is despite the fact that the DFT report is based on police data - and I sent them a link to it).

I fking hate that the BBC news is tainted by people with massive agendas. Why cant they just report the facts and be impartial instead of going all tabloid.

No you’re right so what if a dozen pistonhead posters say the BBC is left wing biased and then most people in general life just get on with it and don’t go looking for left wing bbc conspiracy theories at every turn, what does that mean? ;-)

C'mon Stovey - it was an obvious opportunity to say UKip smile

The point still stands that having complaints of "too left wing" and "too right wing" is meaningless as a measure of the BBC's position as you do not have a reference point of those making the complaint.

It would tend to imply that the BBC's output is generally to the left of the natural position of a dozen pistonhead posters. This could range from Stalin to Kenneth Clarke wink

Has that description got anything to do with the BBC? It just sounds like a description of how society works.

Lovely piece about special needs education on this morning's Breakfast. I'm sure there's some news somewhere in the world, I just hadn't realised this was the biggest breaking story.

Yes because BBC Breakfast show is just about breaking news stories isn't it.

The scraping of barrels to have a go at the BBC on here is pretty special.

Call me old fashioned, but I'd like to see actual news on a news programme.

the news is 50% "assessment" and "speculation" of a previous news "reporter" "reporting" "alleged" "rumours" from a "Government Minister" or "insider" anyway.

Watching a clip of some person walk past ignoring the shouts from reporters followed by 5 mins of what the "reporter thinks" was just said is the level of "reporting facts" the BBC present thinks is News. It does not really matter which side they are reporting on but the level of speculation being presented as "News" is shocking.

The BBC breakfast show isn’t for you then. They’ve ran segments like the one you’re complaining about for years. Have you just started watching it or something?

Then BBC Breakfast is not for you. For years it has been a mixture of news, current affairs and magazine programme.

Perhaps they should remove the word 'news' from the title then...

I think most people understand that it’s not just breaking news on the breakfast show.

I think most people understand that it’s nit just breaking news on the breakfast show.
Perhaps they could call it 'News Lite' or something more representative of the content.
