The problem with this thread is that it is posted by someone who has a right wing bias and therefore the bias of the BBC is shifted to the left more than it would be normally.
Like dancing it takes two to tango. Or not.
In the last week there was a post on this forum quoting a Breitbart news source, which makes me wonder, why is there not a
Political bias at Breitbart - something has to be done surely? thread
There are very few US based news channels that are in the neutral zone. So we put up with it or either read lots from cnn, to fox, to breibart to politico etc to try and get a feel. Or at least I do.
So rather than slagging off the BBC as they do not conform to your political view point, either read them and read others to balance it all out or just not read them at all.
The something must be done actually means you, not them
This was a party political broadcast on behalf of people who have half a brain and two eyes and one mouse finger and who does not quote the Daily Mail as Gospel as did the OP.
Here endeth the lesson... you no doubt will continue with your wailing and gnashings
I think the issue is the BBC is effectively state/publicly funded and most expect it to tread the middle ground. Like dancing it takes two to tango. Or not.

You'd be forgiven if you thought it was funded by Tony Blairs behind the scenes remain campaign though of late.
The problem is that in the good old days, the news sources, in UK and USA just reported what the powers that be told them. It was verbatim reporting. Was it factual? The news companies in the USA decided not, from the Vietnam war onwards and then Watergate.
Those two things broke the cycle of just putting up what was said by officials. For bad or worse. It was good, but now it may have gone too far with news outlets posting opinion pieces in effect just because they cannot help it, so giving a bias and hence fake news claims.
Been a long time brewing.
You look at current news and you have the seed in this

America with its laws on freedom of speech still leads the world in how news is given to us. For example the CNN reporter, the judge and the president.
What's more worrying is social media giving news with no editorial content of all, but that is what we have in 2018.
I love the smell of fake news in the morning from social media....

I think, for what it's worth, we've gone from reporting the news to creating the news.
I believe the BBC as the neutral state broadcaster should have a policy that its editorial and presenting staff should openly declare their political position. I would love to think it will turn out to be self cancelling/balancing, but until done, I can't help but think it's ever so slightly to the left of centre and EU centric judging by its output.
Over the years I've browsed through the various online papers and the BBC website. Most tended to have leanings to their traditional base, the Guardian to the left and the Torygraph to the right with the Beeb and the Times somewhere in the middle.
Since the Brexit referendum the Guardian & Telegraph have become almost unreadable wrt Brexit, giving their entrenched views. I've given up reading them on anything to do with Brexit as you know they are just trotting out the party line, no apparent objectivity whatsoever. amongst all this the BBC news website seems to be the least impartial news source I can find. The Times is also a pretty middle of the road, relatively objective read amongst all the madness.

Problem is impartial and somewhere in the middle is perceived as Looney Left to the swivel eyed racist and xenophobic bd nutter right and and swivel eyed racist and xenophobic bd nutter right.Since the Brexit referendum the Guardian & Telegraph have become almost unreadable wrt Brexit, giving their entrenched views. I used to look at myself as right wing. Not hard right, think John Major/Ken Clark/Geoff Howe Right as opposed to Margaret Thatcher/Norman Tebbit/Sir Keith Joseph Right.
When I engage with individuals on NP&E they are so far to the right of the spectrum I'm spoken to as if I'm a full on nutter Corbinista.

Marr keeps it real. I listened to a report earlier this afternoon on the BBC radio about the tragic crash of German female F3 driver injuring spectators at the Macau Grand Prix. I've heard it several times since and no more mention of the driver's gender. It's not like the BBC to miss an opportunity to sing the praises of a sportswoman.

I like Brillo, he's one of the best interviewers and political chinscratchers on TV, but that tweet is a massive bk-drop, needlessly misogynist.
She was banging on about it being misogynist in her mad 10 tweet rant. Misogynist??
It is such a shame women seem unable to use the English language properly during an argument.

I'd like her to be given the chance of using the English language in an interview on the BBC about the matter.
