Political bias at BBC - something has to be done surely

I neither want nor need my local MP..... and yet
The bit you are missing is that I believe the BBC makes a contribution to society rather than being little more than a Netflix competitor.
i think, given its unique but increasingly perilous position, it could do better. I don't think it is going anywhere soon to be honest, the fee is antiquated and unfair and the advantages are slim if unlevered, but the Govt. is just putting shots across the bows I think. The bit you are missing is that I believe the BBC makes a contribution to society rather than being little more than a Netflix competitor.

Do these BBC haters / binners actually watch no BBC at all?
Never enjoyed a Blackadder, ever?
Yeah, it used to be good. Never enjoyed a Blackadder, ever?
You still living in France? Do you have to pay the license fee over there?
‘It used to be good’
It still is, the BBC have created some great comedy recently
I don't hate it, I just hate the preachy nature of so many programmes these days.
I agree that it is a British institution, it would be a shame to lose it, but I don't think it is fair the license fee is forced through, younger generations genuinely don't ever watch anything from the BBC, why should they pay?
Netflix and NowTv or Amazon combined is the same cost, I could manage without the BBC, I would struggle to manage without those.
I'm trying to think what I have watched on the BBC this year so far? Top Gear. I genuinely think that is it.

This criticism I can acknowledge and I agree with your assessment. It’s the cod consumer protection and free market economy stance from those who actually really object because they don’t like the politics, lesbians and foreign language programmes that prompt ire

Didn't know the Thick Of It was back on.
Gavin & Stacy is pretty good.
Some of the other stuff is fine, some not so, but fair enough, quite a lot there.

The idea that the BBC should be scrapped or go subscription is one of the saddest “destroy” movements yet.
At £154 it is very little for what you get.
Go and pay for it with a subscription then, if it's so good.At £154 it is very little for what you get.
Don't drag the rest of us into paying for something we don't want or need.
The rest of us are happy with ITV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Youtube etc.

You’ve not seen any of those shows? You’re missing out, what type of comedy do you like?

Most of those shows have had new episodes air in the last few years.

I would imagine the typical NP&E BBC hater would have a preference for shows like Terry and June, Love thy Neighbour and Mind your language. Because you can get absolutely everything you could ever need from Netflix and those bastions of integrity at Amazon, right ?
PS - June probably a little too empowered for the average NPE type, it’s her type who signal the rot setting in
