It seems that the people who infested the EU threads, telling anyone who didn't agree with them that they're racist, close-minded little Englanders, have now 'emigrated' to this thread, to tell anyone that doesn't agree with them that they're racist, close-minded little Englanders, and to prove their point, reel out a few old 'of the time' programmes (that everyone has forgot about but strangely, not them) to make their hilariously predictable passive aggressive point that they think they are in superior in every way.
Conversely the people that 'infested' the EU threads saying people were remoaners and doing down the country and not believing in what Britain can do are now telling us that one of the great British institutions that is revered across the world is rubbish and a waste of money - make your minds up ;-)

Why do you want to take down one of the things that we British do well? not very patriotic is it, if people hate the BBC and don't want to pay for a TV license why not move to a country that doesn't have one?

;-)

You're not wrong, have you read the Climate Change Thread? Funnily enough there's a big crossover from deniers on there and BBC haters on here, wonder why that is?

I don’t follow? Are you saying that your word should be good enough? Should that apply to everyone, or are you special?
It's not my job to teach you.

You asked me what my approach is.
I replied I'll follow the law on this matter.
You've then dug for clarification.

If you don't know what the current UK legal requirements are regarding cancelling the licence fee, go and look them up.

It’s only a bit of fun, don’t go taking yourself, or this hotbed of intellectual activity, too seriously.

Has anybody actually said that ?

I’ve had a quick look but am struggling to locate such words.

Any chance of a direct reference ?

Good post and true
I don't know why I bother engaging them, it's sub-Twitter round here once they congregate.
Isn’t it just about echo chambers coming and going on different threads?

If you’re sitting at home saying the bbc has an institutional liberal bias maybe your partner or kids or dog isn’t that interested. Why can’t they see it? Why aren’t they annoyed about the licence fee too?

Never mind, look there on PHs, is a thread full of people who think the same. Maybe I’ll talk to them about it instead.

So the thread becomes mainly people complaining about the bbc, people post on it as it reflects their views and they like hearing other people who think similarly. They then get together and support each other and criticise anyone from the other side and ignore the ones on their own side who are perhaps a bit extreme and frothy. People like being with like minded people even the ones who are a bit OTT.

Ever so often a thread gets linked to or something happens (in this case government attack on bbc) and loads of people with different views suddenly infest arrive and the echo chamber gets disturbed a bit as does the group think.

You see the same in here on the trump thread or the climate politics threads and likely in football club threads or certain car manufacturers threads, where the thread becomes a little community of its own, full of people with the same interest usually agreeing with each other. Posters holding opposing views get criticised harshly and often reported enough that they get fed up or banned and the echo chamber returns to normal.

He wants you to agree that Capita should be allowed to enter your house to check because obviously everyone does watch TV. And you're a wrong'un looking to get free TV if you don't want to let Capita poke around your house.

He hopes you won't ask why the Police would require evidence of an offense to obtain that same access because then he would have to pretend he'd let the Police toss his house without a warrant, because if you've done nothing wrong, you've nothing to hide.

No I don't as it goes, it wasn't on my list was it.

Go on, what comedies do you like?

Not at all. I was just seeking some clarification, but the poster chose to be oblique. The problem with that approach is that other people are forced to make assumptions. Some people feel the need to stretch things out with non-committal answers when, it seems to me, a lot of confusion could be avoided by just answering a question.

The BBC seem to think it's exceptionally funny, I thought you'd like it as it's full on woke and very safe...

How is that oblique? I'll comply with the law. The law in this matter is clear and unambiguous.

‘Woke’ is this the ‘snowflake’ of 2020.

You see i am capable of realising that i don’t like everything the BBC produce but knowing some people will like it and the BBC cater for all tastes.

So you know what I don’t watch the stuff I don’t like and get on with my life without frothing about it, you should try that approach

And it's surprisingly accurate.

One BBC comedy I do like is W1A, I've just got to figure out if it's actually a comedy or a documentary.
