You'd think that they'd have better things to do than file claims against companies opertaing in waters that they have zero sovereignty over. Clearly the Argentinian economy is going so well that their politician have nothing to occupy them all day.

Obvious that they are manufacturing an external threat to keep their population stirred up against so they don't attack their own government for the crap economy, suspicious deaths of prosecutors, etc.

Why? All bluster. Summoning ambassadors means the square root of nothing.

Declaring them PNG or expelling embassy staff would be a more serious move.

Ha, I did think of that when I wrote it. But I was thinking of something rather earlier, the link being Germans' affection for Argentina, esp. post war - Bavaria by the Antarctic...

Ugly politics, and I'm not just referring to the President.

The Prez has to do something to keep the military happy otherwise there will be yet another military takeover by a new lot who will then do some saber rattling etc...Its easy when your not getting shot at to send in a stload of conscripts that don't have a feckin clue what there doing, but with the internet hopefully they'll do a bit of searching to see what happened to them last time.
