I'm not really convinced that what those luminaries look like is actually a particularly important bit of knowledge about them...
Odd thing to say. Is that what the image is saying? If you gave me the names of the ones on the left I'm pretty sure I'd recognise them (I've heard of Jersey Shore but that's where my knowledge of it ends).

That gif is shocking and makes me really uncomfortable for some reason.
Don't get me wrong, I've seen all the beheading videos and all the gore the internet has to offer, but I don't like that.
I can't say I agree. The videos I've seen of torture and death are still far too vivid in my memory, where as this little trollop being subject to abject fisticuffs by a voracious pugilat barely measure on my frontal-lobe 'how-much-do-I-actually-give-a-fk?' scale.Don't get me wrong, I've seen all the beheading videos and all the gore the internet has to offer, but I don't like that.
As a side note I can only discern three of the figures in the picture. One presumes this indicates a lack of intellect, knowledge and moral fibre that contribute to condemn my good self to the abattoir of oft brayed repertoire associated with one who is 'wrong with this world'.

Curious post. I've got to ask, do you mean that literally? You can watch someone having their head cut off with a knife and feel more comfortable watching it than you can a girl being punched?Don't get me wrong, I've seen all the beheading videos and all the gore the internet has to offer, but I don't like that.
I didn't say I understood how I felt.
Admittedly I do find it odd that I can watch death or people dying with very little effect but a girl getting punched grates on me. Perhaps I am just desensitized to some things and not to others.
I admit though, it is a bit unusual.
ETA: the more I think about it I was always brought up to understand that death is one of the only inevitabilities (sp?) of life, alongside birth, whereas violence towards women was drilled into me as being absolutely unacceptable.
I do find it terribly interesting how the experiences we have as a youth personify themselves as alterations to ones outlook in later life. For example me being taught that death was inevitable has perhaps brought me to come to the conclusion that it is an everyday thing and desensitized me to it, whereas violence to women isn't something you see everyday so my initial reaction is one of disgust.
I don't know, it was a reaction. Meh.

...but violence towards men is to be expected The only question is did that person deserve to be punched in the face. Female or not shouldn't be part of the question. Given who it is (no I didn't know to start with), I'm ok with it.

You can tell that was done by someone odd as they added Nikola Tesla to the fancy science side.
Why is that odd?The majority are the kind of people you learn about at school, Tesla is some kind of nerd god to do with the high frequency stuff and death rays that never happened.

I wouldn't have put him up there with the likes of Darwin and Einstein.

Eh? Tesla is a hugely important figure in both electricity and electromagnetism The majority are the kind of people you learn about at school, Tesla is some kind of nerd god to do with the high frequency stuff and death rays that never happened.
