This is probably a stupid question and fairly sure I already know the answer..
Bought a V12V yesterday and the only option that is missing to make it perfect is the B&O system. Can this be retrofitted?
many thanks in advance
Based on the experience of a couple of clients, if you have a good audio/electronics shop (that's definitely an 'if') it is more cost-effective to install an equivalent or better quality aftermarket stereo than retrofit the B&O. I'm not a big audiophile so I would have to call them and find out what to reccommend.Bought a V12V yesterday and the only option that is missing to make it perfect is the B&O system. BTW - (since someone recently intimated that I was promoting our company) we do not sell stereo stuff, I'm just trying to help out

Yeah I bet it would. Pretty much have to remove the whole interior I think in either scenario. Forget it.
It's doable. But at a price that will be sufficient to buy most of an early Vantage.
As an optional extra it's £5500. You need a new dashboard. New boot. New wiring. New speaker mountings.
You can do the maths but done to Works Service standards of fit and finish I think >£12,000

IMHO if you have a premium audio system the improvement doesn't justify the cost
(unless you have a pop up tweeter fetish )
Had the Premium (Alpine) Audio system in my V8V and it is really great, my current DBS has the B&O as standard. It looks(!) great, but I miss the deep, and non-compressed sound of the Premium/Alpine system. So better enjoy it as long as you can and let's hope the marketing hype around B&O audio goes away some day......(it is really nice design, but not for audiophiles........).(unless you have a pop up tweeter fetish )
(BTW, in the B&O there is no way to change the sound settings PER SOURCE TYPE, but only for the whole system at once, pity, because normally you want the radio (which is lo-fi anyway) to have some more highs and lows, but the CD and USB in neutral, now you have to change this everytime you change source....in the Premoum system this could be set per source type, as well as there is a multi band graphic equilizer, but B&O apparantly "thinks" they know what sounds best for you.....)

So that would be .....I will give the B&O a miss then !It's doable. But at a price that will be sufficient to buy most of an early Vantage.

Sure it can be done but it will be eyewateringly expensive!!
Guess you will need:
Full B&O unit including speakers
New door cards
New carpets
New dash cappings
Then pay for all the fitting and wiring at AM dealer rates.
It really would be ridiculous. As well as the above, there are mid bass speakers either side of the central transmission tunnels to factor in for fitting, a different sub & amp behind the passenger seat and the software is different too.Guess you will need:

I have no problem with someone that says I want it, hang the lack of commerciality of the cost of the exercise but on top of all that, I don't think it sounds any better than the premium system I had in the last car. (I appreciate there are two schools of thought on the forum here, but mine is that it is all show and no genuinie sound quality improvement)
B&O had been specced on the car I have now but I'd prefer not to have it other than the fact it may make the car slightly more desirable on resale (certainly won't be more than 1k max though in my opinion).
If you have a roadster, the B&O system also robs you of boot space as there is a large carpeted amp on the vertical inside back wall of the boot
Anyway, leave it off and enjoy the engine sound !!!
I have the B&O system and have hardly ever turned it on. I just open the window and listen to a sound so beautiful that a bunch of musicians can't hope to do better.
When did a piece of music ever make you grin and laugh out loud? Next time round I'll spend the £5k on a BR exhaust and then I won't need to open the window.

Haven't done any long motorway trips yet then..? You can have as many cylinders and active exhaust valves as you like, nothing sounds good for several hours at 3500rpm.
sorry to revive an old thread.
I have a 2009 DBS with the standard speakers, back then the B&O speakers were not available.
I don't ever listen to music, however I do really like the metal finish of the B&O speaker grills vs the bland black mesh on the standard ones. Does anyone know if the B&O speaker grills for the doors can be retrofitted?
The rear ones look easy, but I won't take on the tweeters or the center console ones.
From what I can see the door speakers have slightly different shapes. The standard goes all the way to the end of the door whereas the B&O stops a bit early and makes room for another piece of leather. Everything else looks the same.
However, I was told that most door parts have a standard and/or separate B&O part number which make me believe this is a lot more complicated than just the speaker grill and extra leather piece.
Has anyone done this, or have the appropriate knowledge to answer this?

I might be dreaming this, but I seem to remember a topic where the B&O dashboard rising tweeters were fitted.
Think the rest of the audio was unaltered.
That would be cool Think the rest of the audio was unaltered.
My memory is still working then.
I have found the topic.

This all looks very easy - if you are a boffin!
