Poor kids. Abused sexually and brain washed at the same time. Isn't it great that 25% of these new schools are religiously backed schools ? They just can't leave the kids alone.

common denominators - kids, sex, religion. We need the 1st two, so get rid of the 3rd and problem reduced. wink

This gross abuse of vulnerable kids should have ended a long, long while ago. I suppose some vigilante groups could focus attention of all concerned.

Crumbs. Coming in thick and fast now.

Why the sudden rush? Is it that such things have been known about for some time but blind eyes have been turned, but now it's deemed "OK" to prosecute such shameful behaviour and the floodgates have been opened?

Oli, I would suggest that it is a bit more likely that some of these girls are now coming forward and feel able to make statements whereas before they would only have had the message "Who cares about you?"

Personally I suspect that New Labour saw the 'M' people as something of a new 'bloc' Labour vote and that any issues were to be swept under the carpet. Even Milliband seems to have changed his tune somewhat.

Possibly, but several of the news reports have said that girls have complained about it before only to be told that 'prostitution is your lifestyle choice' and sent on 'cultural diversity courses' and whatnot. Maybe more girls are feeling emboldened enough to come forward but it seems that there is a significant change in the way that these activities are viewed by the authorities.

It seems similar to the Savile thing. Once one starts to be taken seriously (for whatever reason) , then lot's more come out of the woodwork.

It's a common tactic, can't get proper justice if you fail to understand the proceedings can you?

You have to think, given the proliferation and magnitude of recent arrests and convictions, that either something radical has happened the police's detection process, or that there were pressures (from above) on police not to 'profile' suspects. I have no doubt there is culpability at the highest level for allowing many of these events to happen.
