Are all Ukrainians dangerous racists?

Ok, but do you see the irony of labelling everyone in a country, racist? Hypocritical to make such a sweeping statement, no?
They didn't, though. They asked the question, and in light of their rueful performance on the public stage thus far, and the role they've subsequently obtained for the Euros, it's probably a question a large proportion of the public would like an answer to.The answer could be yes or no - it's not a statement, but a question

The 'Moroccan' chap interviewed looked a bit uncomfortable when denying that he had ever seen any evidence of racism...
I did also find the quote in question quite amusing. I can't imagine the BBC ever allowing the words "so, are all travellers dirty thieving scum?"
Well, no. But replace 'dirty thieving scum' with 'racist' and the question is rather more innocuous, surely. I think use of the word 'scum' makes the traveller example you cited a little more offensive.I did also find the quote in question quite amusing. I think taking offence to the question is silly, and smacks a little of 'professional offence taking'.

The Panorama documentary was laughable, 100 or so peopel making fascist salutes and there is a racist hooligan epidemic! Go to any football match in England, look hard enough, and there will be a small minority of right wing morons, as an example, there are morons at Bristol City who turn up in EDL shirts... They are few and far between but will no doubt get together for a bit of healthy racism every now and then. Amusingly we have had Muslim players at Ashton Gate before but they didnt appear to be at that game.... I'm sure they think theres is an ideological battle though
Thus there are right wing fascists in Ukraine too but again, they are the minority and will be kept quiet. World Cups/Euros are so santised that they wont even register an appearance. The authorities will be so desperate for this to be a success that there will be no trouble in the stadia. I'm sure there will be scuffles in streets and again, if they go look for it, the cameras will find some good footage but there will be nothing like England fans in Charleroi in 2000.

I was talking to a Ukrainian (sp) at a BBQ at the weekend.
His opening comment was around the fact that not all Ukrainians are rascist. I was a bit surprised by this but having an inkling what had triggered it I did try to assure him that not everyone was stupid enough to believe what a reporter with a programme to make had to say.
I also pointed out that someone could still make a similar programme in the UK if they went and searched out the right people, and I'm sure they wouldn't have to search too hard.
I asked him whether he'd had any personal grief from anyone as a result of the programme. He said not but he was still visibly annoyed/upset that someone could be portraying his counry that way.
All was going well at the BBQ until he refused to give the asian looking fellow a burger.*

Really? Not how I'd get my kicks. If you'll pardon the pun
Obtuseness aside, I do think the problem is very bad, and racism in particular seems endemic, even if outright violence may not be. Though I have my doubts about that, also. I think I'd struggle to argue that England is currently as bad, based on what I've seen of both (and I'm from Northern Ireland, so I suppose I'm not quite as biased as if I was from England or Ukraine!)
I think that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is currently advising ethnic minorities that they're at greater risk of violent crime says something. I trust they're not influenced by Panorama or the Daily Mail.
The country has fairly serious issues with police racism, too. To be honest, even the most cursory glance of Google will yield a wealth of information from impartial, non profit sources.

Of course, the police like to beat up white people too.

And some kids like beating up gay people.

To be clear, I'm not saying every person is racist, or violent. But they've very serious tolerance issues, and questioning how the BBC phrased their question is taking offence where absolutely none should be taken, and skirts around the issue. Sounds like a bloody mucky place, all in.

Meh, everyone thought that any whites (or any non-blacks for that matter) who wandered off the beaten track during the South Africa world cup would be raped/shot/eaten alive. None were, and i doubt any non-whites will be strung up in Ukraine either.
The media is sensationalist rubbish, BBC especially. No surprises there.
