Or poached salmon???
More likely raw if it came out of the river.
Could it not have been a little shoal of gravadlax swimming around?

In all serious, this is horrible. Especially so, as the parents knew the suspect and he could well have been on the girl's "safe list". If the worst is confirmed, I do hope that she met with her fate swiftly and as painlessly as possible. Every time I hear of one of these stories, it just beggars my belief that someone could be so beastly to a defenceless child.

Not only that, it beggars belief that they think it's a) worth the risk, b) their moment of pleasure outweighs the outcome for the child, and c) they'll get away with it and carry on as normal.

Utterly incomprehensible.

The Police will inevitably have to deal with all the calls from 'Psychics' describing the dreams that have revealed the girls location.

They are a massive pain in the backside.

What I was thinking. If this chap is the guilty party, it's pretty inevitable he would be caught immediately with the likely ourcome being long term incarceration and/or worse.

Is this his equivalent of going out in a blaze of glory, or was he just daft enough to think he could actually get away with it?

Just doesn't make sense, but then someone said earlier not to underestimate the stupidity of the average criminal.

Horrible either way. I've been in a terrible state all week because of this story.

You know, I have worrying feeling about all this now. I only just realised this poor little girl had cerebal palsy. I can't help wondering if Thai may have some bearing on whatever motives there may be for whatever happened here. I'm praying that by some miracle she is found safe and well, but fear not.
But I do wonder if there could be some dreadful family connection to whatever has happened to her? I still find it most odd that the father has kept himself so out of the way.

He's not well. Degenerative eye disease, IIRC.

That, and the fact he's got kids of his own at the same school... Dad one minute, murdering one of his kid's playmates the next?
As a father of a 5y/o girl myself, I can't fathom how anyone could be so sick as to want to harm a child

Let's all remember that being arrested is not the same as being charged, and certainly not found guilty.

If they were seperated you could almost write the sorry tale but in this instance they appear to be together.

Indeed. 24/7 media and the internet is a great, powerful capability.

I do wonder in cases like this if it risks a fair trial. He's been arrested, NOT CHARGED as yet. Let due process now take place.

They've got another 24 hours to question him. Charge or release time is now 5pm Saturday.

Wasn't Christopher Jeffries, (Jo Yeate's landlord), also arrested on suspicion of murder and subseqeuently released without charge.

You'd hope the media and the general population would have learned but perhaps that's a little optimistic.

I seem to remember the Police getting the 36 / 96 hour extensions in that case too.

Sorry if this has been covered - but how have the police gotten beyond 96hrs without charge?

"Police have been given more time to question a man arrested on suspicion of murdering five-year-old April Jones.

Mark Bridger, 46, was arrested the day after April went missing from near her home in Machynlleth, mid Wales, on Monday evening.

Earlier on Friday police confirmed he had been arrested on suspicion of murder.

He appeared before magistrates at Aberystwyth on Friday afternoon where an extra 24 hours was granted."

96hrs is 4 days, so Mon night to Tues night (1) to Wed night (2) to Thur night (3) to Fri night (4)??

surely some DNA evidence must've come through on the car if she did get in?

As pointed out earlier, he may have given 'legitimate' lifts to her before, so not much use if so as DNA will be around for innocent reasons.
