Without a body or witnesses how can they find him guilty? Isn't it supposed to be beyond reasonable doubt?
One would've thought that to get done for murder there would need to be conclusive proof that the supposed victim was actually dead!

Unless you're Donald Rumsfeld and there are fictional weapons involved...

Scratch that, just seen he is responsible for her death but not murder. Sounds like semantics. String him up

Not neccesarily semantics. Whatever his story is, I assume he will be arguing manslaughter.
String him up either way, I agree.

Well I hope that the poor kid didn't suffer.

The parents must be going through hell!

Accidental death is my guess for his argument, followed by panic.

Right up there with "I was hoovering naked and fell backwards on the nozzle" for credibility.

Isn't it possible he accidentally ran her over in his jeep, totally panicked, threw her in the river to cover it up. Owned up when arrested. Little has come out since he was arrested. Seems more likely than him being a murdering child abducter, mainly because he's a parent himself.

Obviously I have no idea what happened, just thoughts.

I'm pretty sure he disposed of the body in the sea/river, thus it will not be found.

evidence now must consist of blood traces at the 'site' (where ever that is) or in his house/car/clothes..

without a body, and the blood / dna forensics I cant see how you can convict?

Interesting that the judge has placed such heavy reporting restrictions?

I've thought this all along. The current in the Dyfi estuary is strong and lends itself well to the purpose.

AFAIK there are still teams of police trawling through the most inaccessible and overgrown bits of the countryside looking for evidence. Very tough work.

This is back in the headlines as the case comes to court.

Contents of his PC sound disturbing in the extreme.

Also a mention of how he possibly got rid of the body - I had always assumed it would be the river.

If found guilty I hope he is never let out again.

Heart breaking stuff, I hope he has the decency to tell the truth when confronted in court, but I doubt it.

Just seen this on the website, and it seems like the worst has happened (I always thought he was responsible, just not in "that" way), along similar lines to Ian Huntley. I truly cannot understand what compels a man suddenly want to go all out in a blaze of "glory" like this, knowing the inevitable result. Poor, poor little girl.

I wish I hadn't click on that link, usually the BBC is quite vague over details.

The implication from the report appears to be that he dismembered her and then burnt her body?

Sweet Jesus Christ.

And I agree - particularly detailed for a BBC report

Come on wtf would do that if they ran over anyone let alone a child?!

TX.

Edit - reading the link above you'd hope he goes to jail never to be let out.
