there's plenty of optimism left when you read accounts like this...It's a lovely story... and yet... doesn't that mean that he spent however many years in a care home without family, without visitors? Maybe I'm just being morbid because it's nearly 5am and I can't sleep, but there seems to be something terribly terribly sad underneath this. Someone knew he was a Marine... could they not have found some volunteers to visit him in life?
