Almost across the board, you're on a winner at the moment.

Dan Hannan?
Well, perhaps I'd let him off. I suppose he seems to believe in what he says/writes and to have some principles.

The other obvious standouts, politicians clearly in it for the greater good and principled, true to their word, include - and to show I'm fair I'll include some from each side:

Baroness Warsi

Tim Yeo

George Galloway

David Milliband

Tony Blair

Dianne Abbott

The ex Selwyn Gummer (the very Right Honourable Lord Debden)

Peter Mandleson (if he can be counted as a 'true' politician)

There must be others like this - we should make a list.

Confused by this post: Is he being sincere, sarcastic or ironic?
That's for others more qualified than me to decide!

Come on, lets make a list of politicians with conviction/who want to do right and the supposed self-servers. Do you think the lists will have equal numbers? Or representatives from the top table in proportion to those from the back benches?

Certainly non of the above

Baco to the original topic.......I thought Boris actually came across quite well, he's human, passionate, intelligent and just like most of us, he's ambitious, makes the occasional cock up, and can laugh at himself. Seems a top man to me.

It has to be said that the zeitgeist of the regular political posters here is undoubtedly on the right of political thinking and that, without doubt, reflected in many of the sways and leans in such threads.

It's not massively aberrant but it is present.
You don't know what the words "zeitgeist" and "aberrant" mean, do you, Gene?

The demographic of posters is probably more affluent than average, so political views are weighted to the rig. We have a good share of lefties though, so we have lively political debates. In addition to which, those on the right do not have uniform views on social and economic matters. Being economically right rating and socially liberal, I've been accused plenty of times of being a leftie in threads about social matters.

Quite amusing that HIGNFY allowed Boris to spin his charm, and helped launch his career, without that show, would he be where he is now?

He certainly has stones. His likeness to Blair has become quite apparent to me. biggrin
At least his act is affable, as opposed to slimy and creepy.

I just assume that he types a normal post and then runs 1/3 of the words through Thesaurus.com

Well, it looks like I was wrong about Milliband snr. Going off to do the noble thing, for a noble cause, for two way greater-good noble reasons! One noble reason not enough for David.

Don't worry for him though, he'll not starve even if his salary is only a few hundred thousand, given the cash he's racked up for his lectures and 'advice sessions' with the likes of those green investment strategists recently.

Do we need to add someone to the list from the 'other side' to replace him? I wonder who...

Bananaman is gone - and good riddance. Maybe he could do us all a favour and recruit Ed Balls as fund manager or some similar suitable role.

That's the other one - one of the good guys I missed out. Balls
