Variety wrote that it is more believable than the usual science fiction premise and praised its special effects. Howard Thompson of The New York Times called it "the best science-fiction thriller this year". Time Out London called it "awesomely credible" and described the ending's imagery as disturbing.

Sounds sensible to me. The Donald has played this situation appallingly badly.

well, great work America.
All these threats you haven't followed through on, the ridiculous rhetoric and pathetic insults were only going to go one way. KJU said it himself only a few days ago...

"After taking office Trump has rendered the world restless through threats and blackmail against all countries in the world. He is unfit to hold the prerogative of supreme command of a country, and he is surely a rogue and a gangster fond of playing with fire, rather than a politician.

His remarks which described the US option through straightforward expression of his will have convinced me, rather than frightening or stopping me, that the path I chose is correct and that it is the one I have to follow to the last.

Now that Trump has denied the existence of and insulted me and my country in front of the eyes of the world and made the most ferocious declaration of war in history that he would destroy the DPRK, we will consider with seriousness exercising a corresponding, highest level of hard-line countermeasure in history."

This weapon programme is just there to stop NK from being attacked. And it seems to have worked so far.

As many have said on here, it is just a matter of time before other small countries who have falled foul of the US start arming themselves, and so it begins...

That's what Fatty wants his people to believe.

NK hasn't been under any threat of attack since the 'end' of the Korean War......until now, and if NK hadn't gone down the Nuc route it still wouldn't.

Trump is an idiot, but this situation is all NK's own making.

Not that anything will happen other than the two fat kids continue gobbing off at each other in the playground......

It matters not if the US would have attacked or not.
What matters is they have said they would, yet haven't.

The US has shown nuclear deterrents to work, The nutjobs of the NK regime, including KJU have inexplicably been proven right. Now the message is out there that if you don't want your country to be invaded, and you can survive the sanctions, weapon up.

Anyone else genuinely getting more than a bit worried now?

I'd wager too that KJU might be smart enough to have ensured that there are nukes outside of DPNK ideally in his view with terrorists who wouldn't give a fk and use them against the western enemy.
Imagine IF he has or has a plan to ensure ISIS /Taliban or whoever have a or multiple nukes.... if he did and he verified that then he has all the power in the world and could leverage that crazy situation to his advantage.

If there was a full on war spilling over to China and then Russia on the Eastern Europe when it's all done and dusted the loss of life suffering and cruelty pillage rape genocide would be horrific

We have had 70 years of relative harmony but I think too many have forgotten or never even seeen the horror that War brings.

The worst bit of all is in all these very difficult conflict areas it's literally like watching an oil tanker in a slo mo crash nothing you can do about it. Hope we're wrong and it's all dandy

I genuinely doubt KJU has any nukes outside of NK. They would be too easy to detect, to hard to maintain and keep secret.

However remember that NK has been at this game for half a century, they may well have checmical/biological weapons around the place. We know they have them, and they are much easier to maintain/transport.

Chemical weapons are only WMDs compared to a bullet say. No great threat at an international scale.

Biological weapons could get nasty, but I don't think they're all that likely, and what's the delivery mechanism?

Right now I believe KJU is detonating everything he has nuke-wise but trying to spread doubt as to whether he has more. Smart and sensible move.

Wasnt there a leader in a middle east country who spread some doubt that he had chemical weapons to try to keep warmongers away- trouble is they thought it was credible

I'm actually less worried as time goes on, because their direct threats have come to nothing apart from flying by some planes around and launching missiles into the sea. So now it's just a pissing match between two idiots who have no intention of following through with their threats and it's getting tiresome.

As someone born in the 1970's the last 20 years have been pretty crazy and escalating at an insane level

I'd wager whatever happens that in the future economists historians politicians will study this time. Will they realise that when all is said and done humans are destructive greedy animals.
Be it religion mineral wealth or energy security or possibly plain boredom mundane life that gets the drive towards war.
