Coupled with the blockade they probably see diplomacy as the only way out for now. They'll probably try it all over again in a few years.

My post was referring to them stopping nuclear testing.

Where did I mention peace talks?

I said peace, but any de-escalation, is the world becoming safer, it certainly isn't the other way.

Let's see if they are a success first.

With Trump and Kim Jong-Un involved who knows how it will pan out.

Problem here is long term fix required, trump wants the hallelujah chorus after the first interaction.

Trump craves short term headlines and quick sound bites of praise.

Once he's out of office, he couldn't give a toss about NK.

On the surface it sounds good. But does really make much difference?

They are stopping testing as they are happy with their current nuclear ability.

Not because of superb international diplomacy from Trump (as if...!) or because they are willing to give up their nuclear arsenal.

The world hasn't suddenly become a safer place.
You have no idea why they stopped testing. They could just have easily have found major insurmountable problems and are using their line to make people like you (and others) think what you are smile

The world is 100% a safer place if crackpots aren't lobbing erratic missiles all over the place...

Really is "time will tell" with these two.

It's the reason they've given, so it's not unreasonable for "people like me" to quote that reason.

It may be lies, but you don't know either.

My pie is bigger than your pie. That should get them at loggerheads again.

Trump is already looking to blame Kim for it failing, he has said as much. I expect a flounce.

I think this is the case. The mountain collapse has destroyed most of what he had, nuclear bods and all. He can't carry on shooting his mouth off if he's got nothing to back it up, so diplomacy is the only way forward, get the sanctions lifted, build up some cash, start all over again in 10 years time and hope nobody notices.

I suspect something has forced KJU to announce this.

If I was negotiating, I would say I'm prepared to give up the testing, if you give me something. Not I give up testing so what do I get for being a good boy.

Even saying we've stopped testing as we don't need to do any more would put you in a stronger position.

As I see it, this is just headlines and bullst. There needs to be proper give and take on both sides with a view to long term peace between North and South and the North allowing to trade.

This is the bit we will insert into Trump to take control of his mind.

Have to agree. He's only announced the closure of ONE of his nuclear research sites - the one that got buried. According to defectors there are another two.

At the end of the day it'll all come down to verification or trust.

I can't see Kim allowing unhindered, unannounced visits to his military and scientific establisments. And history shows us NK wouldn't get many stars on Trustpilot.

Will Trump pull out of SK and lift sanctions on the back of these two huge uncertainties?

The scientist who designed this worked in hydragas development at BL in the UK during the 70s.

As I said before, this has very very little to do with Trump.

The newish South Korean president is the catalyst for these changes.
