The most impressive lot for him with technology, safety and construction know how, was our French cousins.
That thought alone doesn't fill me with confidence. I would have thought that given the same budget they would be equally similar. Russia makes incredibly advanced military equipment even if their private companies aren't lavished with the same level of funding.

Not at all. The feedback was the French even eclipsed the USA in terms of the whole package they could offer. The personnel was a factor in it, along with design, safety standards, experience, knowledge transfer, training, local content etc. In the world of glow in the dark power generation, cheap =! good.

Think of me as almost like Quest Means Business except I know what I'm talking about and I'm not quite as irritating as that fker smile

Some chance!!

At least he has opinions (!!) and expresses them fairly forcibly. Pretty hot on the forecasting too, DJRC being spot on on France and years in front of the pathetic media we suffer from. As indeed does Digga!

Best of luck to you DJRC I admire your energy. Should be good or you and assist with the capital aggregation! Enjoy every moment!

Don't FFS ever move to the US then... 35% is just federal, add on state and city income tax!

It'll end up a little lower than that by the time you've had allowances for travel to work expenses and all the other things that you can claim for. Takes forever to come through and there's pages of paperwork to fill out.

It used to be a straight 30% taken off, leaving a flat 28%. bds seemed to have changed it in the last two yrs.

I know the Dutch have a few tugs but surely not enough to separate the entire country from the off-shore Europe land mass and tow it to the regions of oil and deserts?

Or have plans changed?

You really do not want to head north, at least not for fiscally beneficial reasons.

Unless you are planning to move onto benefits soon. That might work.

A lot changed for many in the latest budget. You'll find 'contractors' who were evading the IR35 and masquerading as businesses will be less happy.

I also think the reduction in capital investment write-downs against corp tax is a retrograde step for the economy in the longer term.

Welkom bij de familie van zoon! smile

You'll find keeping a limited company registered in the UK and contracting your services to Holland is far and away the cheapest way to do this. You can pay dividends and avoid NI. Given that you appear to have two or three "clients" in any year I would hope you'd avoid IR35.

I suspect that it isn't just small contractors who will lose out, anyone who receives substantial amounts of dividends will be paying more tax.

Well yes, but if the business is sufficiently large, then the difference is marginal and affordable. It will, no doubt, clobber a lot of small business owners and IMHO I'm not entirely certain it is not a sledgehammer to crack a nut or, to mix metaphors, throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

As I understand it, and I haven't looked at it very closely (yet), the business (large or small) isn't affected, it's the recipient of the dividends who is paying more tax.
