Fueling on the "wrong side"
Discussion
Today I was told off by a woman at a petrol station, apparently I queue jumped, by joining the shorter queue, and filling on the "wrong side".
I tried to inform her that you can fill from either side, and the pumps even say extra long, to allow this.
But her driving instructor had told her to only fill on the "right side", god knows how she passed her test with an instructor like that.
I know some of you have nice cars, and don't want a dirty pipe draped over your car, but in an old banger, would you fuel on the wrong side?

I came across a new petrol station where the pumps were too short to remotely reach - clearly deliberate as several other people tried to fill from the other side and immediately noticed something was wrong. Silly, I wonder why a petrol station would deliberately stop this?
To stop people queue jumpingFill on the "wrong side" the majority of the time. I used to be one of those patiently sitting in queues for pumps until someone (possibly on here) pointed out that pumps are designed to reach either side. Nobody has ever grumbled at me but then I don't see many people doing likewise, either.

was she fit ?
Unlikely. I suspect prune faced Daily Mail reader.I fill my car from whichever side the pump with the shortest queue is. Alfa is fine but the Fiat takes longer because it's van shaped so the nozzle ends up at a funny angle.
Still doesn't take as long as queuing behind stupid women though.
There's something about queuing at a petrol station that turns people into morons and then makes them go mental when you don't follow the "rules"
I've always made a point of going to the first available empty pump and it's always so much better when there's a queue of cars steadfastly refusing to go anywhere near it when it happens to be on the "wrong side"
