The Russian ambassador to Turkey has just been assassinated.
"The Russian ambassador to Ankara has been killed in a gun attack at an art gallery in the Turkish capital, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported."

Apparently he was dressed and positioned as part of the ambassador's security detail, and was shouting Allah-hu-Akbar and referencing Syria/Aleppo after the shooting.
First the airliner bombing and now this - at what point does your average Russian turn against Putin for involving Russia in the Syrian war?

I'm not sure why they'd turn against Putin, but they might ask for a little bit of retaliation against the perpetrators. And when it comes to Turkey and their regional games there is a very obvious person to pin blame on.They certainly 'neutralised' the shooter anyway

I agree, Putin is an autocrat and will handle any unrest at home (if there is any), let's hope that this doesn't escalate, but it's extremely worrying. Be interesting to see what the President elect will have to say/tweet on the matter, his first diplomatic test or will it be left to Obama?Butter Face said:

Tragic thing to happen.
