More trouble in Turkey.

A suspected car bomb outside a major soccer stadium in Istanbul has left more than a dozen people dead according to security sources in the Turkey.

Witnesses said more police were deployed and had cordoned off the area as smoke rose from the newly built Be?ikta? stadium. They said gunfire had also been heard in what appeared to have been an armed attack on police.

The Russian ambassador to Turkey has just been assassinated.

Not sure that what the gunman did for a living is relevant

He was shouting the allah ackbar business while he was shooting.

Not noteworthy at all that the man was a policeman and appeared to be part of the security detail?

Apparently he was dressed and positioned as part of the ambassador's security detail, and was shouting Allah-hu-Akbar and referencing Syria/Aleppo after the shooting.

First the airliner bombing and now this - at what point does your average Russian turn against Putin for involving Russia in the Syrian war?

Just been on the news, he was wearing a suit, hardly full blues and twos.

He flashed a police I.D. To get in, doesn't mean he was old bill.

Time will tell.

I'm not sure why they'd turn against Putin, but they might ask for a little bit of retaliation against the perpetrators. And when it comes to Turkey and their regional games there is a very obvious person to pin blame on.

Just watched the video on liveleak, bloke didn't stand a chance. Took a whole load of bullets frown

The way the shooter was in the room looked like he had been there a while, it was a total surprise to everyone I think.

I'm sure Russia will have something to say about it.

Confirmed as a cop. Doubt he was part of security detail, as there was no security detail on the guy at the time that I could see. Poor guy stood no chance.

22 years old, so doubt he has been a cop long, couple of years maybe?

They certainly 'neutralised' the shooter anyway

I agree, Putin is an autocrat and will handle any unrest at home (if there is any), let's hope that this doesn't escalate, but it's extremely worrying. Be interesting to see what the President elect will have to say/tweet on the matter, his first diplomatic test or will it be left to Obama?

What a scene - it's like something out of the movies.

Certainly looks that way, the amount of bullet holes in the wall is nuts!

I'd suggest that's why he could stand behind him, no questions asked, "off duty" security detail is questionable, pretending to be on duty to be able to do a spectacular on live TV seems fairly obvious conclusion.

Not for u, he's just glad he could knock one out at the allah ackbar chant.

I'm going to guess the Turkish vetting system is pretty st, if they even have one, scary.
Tragic thing to happen.
