Reading that it seems to me Alex is missing a trick, a whole new industry could arise following independence, Scotland could become the Mental Asylum for the British Isles, we could pay you to take all our nutjobs, hell you already seem to have so many you would scarcely notice the difference!
the most shocking thing he used to be an ambassador in the foreign office. i'm not kidding.///ajd said:

In reality LBG and RBS could move head quarters to London but still run there finance operations from Edinburgh safe guarding jobs etc (kind of like off shoring). However I think if these two firms wanted to move to the UK as it becomes then given they are doing it for support from the BoE there might be an argument for job creation down south etc also does a retaill market of 5.5m people really matter versus 400m people in the EU you can have as customers.
But RBS is much much more than a retail clearing bank in Scotland! So they make 2bn pre tax so what they still have a bad book still have not paid a dividend and still admit there will be bumps in the 3rd quater. Hardly a success, if you want to see a well run bank look at HSBC though they are pulling out of Scotland are they not post a yes vote.

Really I couldn't hear more than a few of the crowd sing alon to the national anthem, you get more enthusiasm at an under 18 rugby international held at Adam's Park than I saw this evening.
Complete dong of a comment to be fair considering the amount of foreigners in attendance. The majority of people there weren`t there for a sing song, why drown out he man doing the job?Edited by bigkeeko on Friday 25th July 19:52

Regardless of your view on the referendum, the Union Jack has no place at the Commonwealth Games as the UK is not represented there. Instead the component countries of Scotland, England, Wales and NI are competing with their own flags - not the Union Jack. Gecko1978 said:

My point is that RBS (and LBG) operate and profit from more than clearing bank activities and in more countries than just Scotland.

if they made a profit or payed a divid end there are tax's to pay there too currently they make F all though
They make "F all"?RBS shares have jumped after the bank said today it expects pre-tax profits to double to £2.65bn for the first half of the year.

If only there was some way of showing support for all 4 neighbouring nations at the same time.Wrathalanche said:
