I think the point is more nuanced. http://www.pistonheads.com/
How do you call the cab driver without access to the smart phone/app? Grab another smart phone with the same credentials and login?
Log in to your Uber account on any other internet-connected device. It's really not that complicated a concept. How do you call the cab driver without access to the smart phone/app? Grab another smart phone with the same credentials and login?

Why don't black cabs join uber? Or better still make an app to compete with uber? (Sorry if this has been covered)
They can join uber and there are at least two competing apps, Hailo and Gett, but most black cab drivers don't seem to want to be subject to the requirements of the apps, like not refusing fares, cancelling when they see a better prospect, taking card payments and having an electronic record of their fares. Really ? What do you think the real rate of income tax paid by a taxi driver is ?

ost people put in their destination when they order, to get a fare estimate. You don't have to though.
As for the second question....
I just wanted to make sure that the black cab drivers were annoyed that they wouldn't be able to avoid paying tax. As for the second question....
20,000+ black cabs in London. That would be a lot of tax.

Any account work, should the diver be on a circuit, will be docket logged. Whilst it is mainly a cash business, account work aside, it's not that easy to stash thousands under the mattress.

I wonder what the average earnings figure declared to HMRC is.
Depends on hours worked and the hours of the day that the driver works, if he owns or rents a cab, whether or not on a circuit, if owns own cab whether he has a night man who he rents the cab out to or rents the cab whilst on holiday, etcPiece of string question.

Customer service fantastic today, got a car, realised the prat was watching tv on his phone while driving (had it balanced by the speedo) - this caused him to sit stationary twice when he should have been moving, prompting horns from others, and a couple of missed lights, which made me a couple of mins late for meeting.
Left a 1 star review with a comment, a CS rep emailed me under 5 mins later saying it would be dealt with and they do not condone this sort of thing (obviously) and gave me £10 credit.

Hopefully from 2020 we'll see the end of the hideous, odious, uncomfortable and noisy black cab anyway as they will mostly be scrapped and replaced.
