Here's some good anti-gun stuff (Kids and Guns). And not even on the BBC. Some real sickeners on it - though there is at least a nice bit where the ex-army bloke admits he made a bit of a mistake. And to be fair, the few professionals/experts on it actally seem reasonably sensible.

The 4 year old girl getting a rifle for her birthday. She's more interested in popping the plastic that protected it in the box. Don't blame her at that age.http://www.channel4.com/programmes/kids-and-guns

America does a lot of things wrongly but it does do the odd thing well...This is one one them.
They broke into his house to steal his belongings and when he intervenes he gets attacked. Good on him I say.
The best part is the other intruder may face a murder charge because it was his fault which it was to anyone with any common sense.
I'm glad I live in a country (England) where I don't even have to give a thought to having a gun or shooting anyone. We must be doing something well here too. They broke into his house to steal his belongings and when he intervenes he gets attacked. Good on him I say.

Many of us were raised at a young age to handle and respect weapons. We never ended up shooting anyone. It taught us responsibility and respect for their handling. That said, 10-12 was usually that age; 4 is absurd.
Just watched the programme and the poor little girl just wasn't interested. Not surprised as the recoil from the rifle nearly took her chin off. It's a .44 Magnum youth rifle btw.

You may have to give a thought to someone else who may have a gun and want to shoot you; because like it or not, they are available there and becoming more so all the time.
Comparing the figures on gun deaths between the two countries, it'll be a while yet before I start to worry.Years ago I was in a place called Ventura in California.
We'd just been for a meal and I left the Mexican restaurant with a half finished bottle of Bud in my hand.
We walked up the road and into a general store on the corner to buy some bits and bobs.
I completely forgot about the beer in my hand.
I walked up to the counter and the guy behind it said "is that a beer in your hand?" with a horrified look on his face like I had just beheaded his daughter (I kid you not).
It was at that moment that it dawned on me that the extremely freaked out old fella behind the counter may have a gun stashed somewhere to hand and I didn't know why he was so freaked out or what was going to happen next.
I apologised and hurried out of the shop and dumped the bottle outside the door.
Upto that point I had had just over 2 weeks in a country filled with guns and it hadn't crossed my mind once, but at that moment I was scared. Very scared.
I'm so glad we don't have guns over here and don't normalise them to our kids.
That programme the other night was shocking.

Strangely enough, that never enters my head - I wonder why?Randy Winkman said:

I am sure he does not; I was referring to those who may break into his.
Well surely the criminals will not have weapons because they are illegal here? That's how it works right?!?Randy Winkman said:
