fking idiot, I have a similar issue with my shoulder which can't be fixed, it's called chronic regional pain syndrome, cutting my shoulder off won't work, other people have done it and they either get phantom limb pain or it moves to the opposing limb.
It strikes me that this man might have Body integrity identity disorder
