Ahh, but you won't find a politician who will talk about that. The more people, the more 'disadvantage' the more votes they can make empty promises for.

I can't think of one of today's global problems that wouldn't be eased by a lower population. 'Climate change' in all it's forms, hunger, disease and treatment, you name it.

Stepping away from the whole climate change angle of the debate, there is a discussion to be had about other resources used in livestock production, especially water, but also large scale production causing biodiversity loss and other environmental damage. Framing the debate as climate change only does rather serve to polarize it, which is a shame, as there are plenty of non-greenhouse gas concerns I'm sure reasonable people would be interested in were they not given the immediate get out of "it's another bloody climate change story, I'm ignoring it!".

Yes. It is at a level of scientific certainty as way back when it was proven that the earth was, in fact, round.

Also, that the cause is human activity (cows included) is also no longer disputed in mainstream scientific circles.

To deny global warming today is to put yourself into a group of people who cannot be reasoned with and who are not likely to believe any evidence at all. To me it is like someone claiming Elvis is still alive or that some magicians really can make things disappear.

If all such PH folks can make themselves know below..... oh you are already typing?!
I don't deny global warming - the satellite temperature data does though.....

You plan on driving two hundred miles across this great country of ours on a mix of all types of road types. You do not look out of your front door and say, "oh good, traffic is very light, we will not encounter any delays or issues." To do so would be to invite ridicule.

On the topic of population, which I fully agree, we are too many and too greedy, how can you practically (economically) reduce population? Simplistically, growth of an economy requires a growth of population...

Same story. Oh the traffic outside my house at 12 noon is much quieter than it was at 8am. I will give it another four hours and make my trip then.

To claim Global Warming exists when there has been none for two decades would also invite ridicule.

After 17 and a half years and counting - I'd assume the traffic isn't coming back (given as the whole "warming" period that got Hansen's knickers in a twist was 22 years - though only 12 when the first screams of the sky is falling came out) .

I do wonder how people think that might be made to happen? The global birth rate has been falling for decades. The world over, it's now 2 point something kids per woman.

Population is going up because the world is a much healthier place. Should we cull the old, useless people? We certainly don't want to cut down on the young people as they are the ones that do the hard work.

And you are certain of that? I mean you've looked at the credentials of the climate scientists that explain that and found them less qualified and fewer in number than the ones that promote that idea? Without introducing any personal bias at all? Scouts honor? Not being funny, just genuinely interested in how you came to your firm belief.

Growing and eating meat is pretty harmful to the environment, that's just a fact, especially beef and lamb.

He said ridicule, sure, but you just know deep down in side he meant heresy.

I've not seen a hedgehog for over 20 years but my Mum saw one the other week. So they do still exist.

When "the experts / scientists" say polar ice will have disappeared by now, but it hasnt, the south coast will have the same climate as the Med by now, but its as cold as I can remember. Snow will be a thing of the past, followed by 2 fairly decent snowfalls year on year and no significant change, indeed a slight drop in temperatures over nearly 2 decades and yet people still have blind faith in what they are being told by those that have a rather obvious vested interest in the subject! Unbelievable.

If you chose to rely on one news source then indeed, the sky is falling in, but sometimes its worth looking outside and questioning whats being said and for what reason.

Oh, Ive not seen hedgehogs in my garden for a few years though that might be because the fence has been fixed. Though it could be Global wombling....

'Over' population issues aside (though they will be in the mix too):

It is worth remembering that if you wanted to make absolute stloads of money you would convince people to eat something cheap and addictive that makes them fat and ill and thus in lifelong need of drugs that you also sell.

Guess which foodstuffs are cheap and addictive. And which are not. Go on...
