Scottish Referendum / Independence - Vol 6
Discussion
I agree that the voters who are currently sitting on their hands will mostly come out as No's. These are the people who listen to the arguments, understand the arguments, and will make an informed decision.
The Yessers made up their minds 307 years ago so don't even need to think about it. There won't be many of them currently hiding out of reach of the pollsters in the "undecided" category........

I've noticed the NO side on fb has taken an upwords turn, more people are coming out as NO voters.
I'm still 60-40 for a no win.
Very much so. The last few nights, although anger inducing, has been quite encouraging with the number of people now taking a bit of a stand and speaking up.I'm still 60-40 for a no win.
I've found if you ask a difficult question they just do as Alex did and ignore you, or answer something else.
Know you're close to me, so have you seen the number of lamp posts they've managed to put those signs on? It's insane. Almost every one for a mile and a half through the village I'm in. Ironic that if they spent the same amount of time demanding answers from the SNP as that we would all be in a better place.
I'm Chapelhall based, it's sad to see so many lamp posts with the signs on.
There have been some no thanks going up in Airdrie but not enough for my liking.

Rumours that the Scottish Sun is going to settle towards pro independence. Might be decisive. I expect Murdoch wants Cameron to stay in power; a Yes vote will help. Gormless Ed and Cameron parading around Scotland will only help the yes vote.
Murdoch is a carpet-bagger. He will just jump to the party he thinks will win. There is no other apparent concern for him, nor his papers. He left the labour party after years not through idealogical reasons but just because he thought the tories would win a majority.
He doesn't care about any particular party. He just wants whichever party is in power to follow his dictats. His Mc Taggart lectures tell the politicians what he wants. He has, no doubt, promised Salmond support if he allows him concessions.
Blair, Thatcher and Cameron are all in his circle, in the case of Blair, only until recently, and all the pretenders, including Gove, May, Farage and all those willing to sell their souls for support from Murdoch, will do what he wants.
An odious man.

Haven't been through Chapelhall since I was out on my bike on Sunday, but driving through Holytown is easily the worst I've seen of anywhere around here so far.I'm Chapelhall based, it's sad to see so many lamp posts with the signs on.

I can't work out when they went up though as I only noticed them on my drive home the other day, but fairly sure they weren't there in the morning when I left.
They are generally high enough to have definitely needed ladders too, so it's been a pretty serious effort. Can't imagine it's actually an official thing? If not, least it must have given the habitually unemployed something to do for a change.

There are loads of people on my fb endlessly quoting "facts" from yes scotland, business for Scotland and wings over Scotland. They are swallowing it all whole. I came close to deleting my fb again, only just came back a week ago. However there are lots of people coming out and saying "shut the f*ck up, ill decide for myself". They really are getting tired of all of this and the yes drivel. I suspect most of these wil vote no to be gone with it.I'm still 60-40 for a no win.
I honestly think that when it started out it would have been 10% yes, 60% no and 30% don't know. However, the yes campaign has been fuelled by people with a do or die, now or never and independence at all costs attitude. These groups have been shouting so loud and making such amazing claims(blatant lies) that a huge swathe of people have sucked it up, so desperate to believe that these things will come true that they will believe anything and just hope it comes true.
Its a sad state of affairs in a battle of who can shout loudest and promise the most bells and whistles.

Out of curiousity, how would Scottish Independence affect those like myself who are employed by an England-based company owned by a parent company based in Scotland?
Well... the accounting effort will effectively double. Scottish relevant accounting to Scottish HRMC ( Whatever that would be called )
rUK accounting to HMRC
So costs up, profitability down....
Scotland won't be in the EU... so any trade agreements, import tariffs for non EU product will hit you...
So profitability down....
Scottish currency.... whatever it will be
Your company will be at risk of currency fluctuations of whatever it uses.
Companies normally run on borrowing.
Borrowing costs in iScotland will go up.

Be unsurprised if your parent company moves to England and has a subsidiary in Scotland, at least as far as tax is concerned.Rollin said:
So RBS and Lloyds rumoured to be moving headquarters south following a yes vote.
No need to worry though eh yessers?
Nick Robinson just reporting this on the news. No need to worry though eh yessers?
So that's Standard Life RBS and Lloyds - just how many direct and indirect jobs will that impact?
Also what does it mean in terms of lost Corporation tax for Scotland?
Close according to the polls. Alex Salmond is pulling out all the guns but he's bound to be as he's either going to go down in history as Scotland's prime minister and the guy who brought independence to Scotland or just yesterday's news.
It's funny that he goes on about Politicians lying in London but he's also a politician, who I believe I is just telling the Scottish people what they want to hear. Words are easy but I fear for Scotland that those promises could be empty and many may regret backing him in 10 years time. I feel we are stronger together, my two peneth.

Not so much for Lloyds but standard life and RBS are massive employers. More importantly though, the lack of confidence will be very damaging to the yes campaign. So that's Standard Life RBS and Lloyds - just how many direct and indirect jobs will that impact?
