Disruptions in London today - climate march

It seems pretty conclusive that many folk who are pro MMGW are also haters of Humanity. A terribly sad state of affairs. That people suffering with such deeply damaging psychological issues can hold sway over whole governments.
And yet of all the people I've met day to day only one bought into the whole climate change thing, and even she never tried to force it down anyone's throat. My experience is 99% of people don't care and are far more concerned about things such as inflation, heating bills and cost of livingCS Lewis said:
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.
It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth.
This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.

Yes I do think we have an effect on the planet, and if we want to continue living on it we need to sort it out, like plastic for example, the sea is so polluted it's affecting the fish stocks of some of the poorest countries in the world, all the plastic in the sea breaks down to its original form of tiny balls and silicone, trees are the most important thing on dry land, not us, personally I find the human race to be a pretty vile species and in no way "clever". A clever species wouldn't have allowed it to get this bad in the first places, I don't see the walrus population or for that matter penguins in the situation we are in, clearly they know something we don't!
For every article you can show me that casts doubt on climate change being a man made issue, I will show you 10 that prove otherwise. I feel a deep connection to nature, laugh all you want because I don't give a fk, and I feel that this planet would be a lot better off without us, and you are right, the planet will be here long after the human cancer has been eliminated!
Peace.

What's wrong with campaigning to make life cleaner? It's our responsibility to not destroy this place, regardless of weather you believe in climate change of not, reducing emissions is only ever going to be a good thing!
DO you REALLY think "we" have the power to upset Nature? Have you considered for a moment the amount of noxious gases thrown into the atmosphere by natural events such as the eruption of Mt St Helens, Krakatoa and Vesuvias. Hey .. guess what? We're all still here. Here's the best riposte to the climate change evangelists I have ever read. Its from the late George Carlin. IMHO no-one has said it better.
“We’re so self-important. Everybody’s going to save something now. “Save the trees, save the bees, save the whales, save those snails.” And the greatest arrogance of all: save the planet. Save the planet, we don’t even know how to take care of ourselves yet. I’m tired of this st. I’m tired of f-ing Earth Day. I’m tired of these self-righteous environmentalists, these white, bourgeois liberals who think the only thing wrong with this country is that there aren’t enough bicycle paths. People trying to make the world safe for Volvos. Besides, environmentalists don’t give a st about the planet. Not in the abstract they don’t. You know what they’re interested in? A clean place to live. Their own habitat. They’re worried that some day in the future they might be personally inconvenienced. Narrow, unenlightened self-interest doesn’t impress me.
The planet has been through a lot worse than us. Been through earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics, continental drift, solar flares, sun spots, magnetic storms, the magnetic reversal of the poles … hundreds of thousands of years of bombardment by comets and asteroids and meteors, worldwide floods, tidal waves, worldwide fires, erosion, cosmic rays, recurring ice ages … And we think some plastic bags and some aluminum cans are going to make a difference? The planet isn’t going anywhere. WE are!
We’re going away. Pack your st, folks. We’re going away. And we won’t leave much of a trace, either. Maybe a little Styrofoam … The planet’ll be here and we’ll be long gone. Just another failed mutation. Just another closed-end biological mistake. An evolutionary cul-de-sac. The planet’ll shake us off like a bad case of fleas.
The planet will be here for a long, long, LONG time after we’re gone, and it will heal itself, it will cleanse itself, ’cause that’s what it does. It’s a self-correcting system. The air and the water will recover, the earth will be renewed. And if it’s true that plastic is not degradable, well, the planet will simply incorporate plastic into a new paradigm: the earth plus plastic. The earth doesn’t share our prejudice toward plastic. Plastic came out of the earth. The earth probably sees plastic as just another one of its children. Could be the only reason the earth allowed us to be spawned from it in the first place. It wanted plastic for itself. Didn’t know how to make it. Needed us. Could be the answer to our age-old egocentric philosophical question, “Why are we here?”
Plastic… asshole.”

What I don't understand is why it has to be binary, 0 or 100. What's wrong with accepting efficiency and increasing efficiency is good and cleaning up air and water quality in our human environments is good?
I have a 5.5ltr NA V8. It also has stop start and cylinder shutdown so I can do over 30mpg sometimes when I want to mooch. This I like. Other times I like to hear what AMG's finest sounds like at 6000rpm

Utterly typical of so many human hating, backward looking Gai-freak fools. The same sort of ludicrous, mass-guilt strewn views several of the green lobby's leaders have had the naivety to admit in public. Idiots who value plants and insects and animals more highly than their fellow 'man' so many of whom they would like wiped from the planet. Just not themselves. Pathetic. And as ever, I note you haven't done the logical thing (your "clever") and rid us of part of this cancer and the overhead it causes the poor planet by offing yourself.

A minute or two of checking and the hot air will emanate from the Bishop of London (just perfect, with agw being one of the newest religions) and that bastion of objective scientific wisdom aka Vivienne Westwood. Emma will be there, saving the planet, maybe Leo was busy.
The Americans are now talking again about getting to Mars ...put this shower of naive attention-seeking dimmos on the first rocket.

The bit that gets me about it is that, even if MMGW isn't a thing (I'm still not 100% convinced based on the evidence but it certainly seems more likely to me than not), all of the actions needed to hold it back are perfectly sensible for other reasons - reducing reliance on the middle east and Russia for fossil fuels, eliminating vehicle emissions within cities, developing alternative energy sources, and so on.
There's absolutely no reason at all to argue that we need to take these actions, regardless of why we need to take them.

Because this isn't about making life cleaner. It's narrowly focused on a mistaken belief about global warming that has become a lie that cannot be denied lest it derail the gravy juggernaut. The money and effort that has been wasted could have actually made a REAL environmental difference. Real environmental problems are being ignored because of this claptrap.Negative Creep said:

Hope you don't leave that phone charger plugged in overnight.I had to suspend disbelief when I saw on the news that there was some big meeting about it going on with heads of state or whatever. FFS we are facing much more important stuff.
But its nice that you do care and I have a proposition for you. I'm currently having a few annoying but semi light hearted issues with "ped riders" being annoying. I even started a thread about it and I am receiving some helpful advice on how to decapitate them with wire across the roads and stuff. I even got an offer of some razor wire and posts via PM but it seems a bit drastic.
I dunno where you live but assuming it's not somewhere like Rampton then how about you come up for a weekend. you would like my wife and our youngest daughter may be over from Uni weekend after next.
What I was thinking is that you could with your passion and caring nature help to persuade these "ped heads" to stop razzing up and down on their nosey machines and so hep save the planet.
So how about it mate you would be doing me a favour and helping save the planet.

Interesting line of thoughtNow the current mainstream "green" movement is about CO2, CO2, CO2, CO2, CO2, CO2, CO2, CO2, CO2, CO2 and CO2.
if i listen to their message i can see not one single problem with changing the oil in my car and dumping it in the nearest river as it means i haven't driven the car pumping out nasty CO2.
However i guess you have a problem with me dumping the oil into a river and quite rightly
The modern "green" movement is basically where those that want to destroy society now hang out. they are watermelons green the outside red on the inside.
Don't forget the mess left by the anti-fracking heroes
So step away from CO2, CO2, CO2, CO2, CO2 message and look elsewhere at helping the environment
