Just seen a video of papparazi hounding Clarkson while he was riding a bike. his only comment was that he wanted everyone to lay off the producer as non of it was his fault. i thought that was a very decent thing to say.
You make it sound like he's making some grand selfless gesture by accepting 100% of the blame himself. That would be the case if he weren't 100% to blame, but he is.robemcdonald said:
I just googled bedder 6 profits. It made a mighty profit of £673919 in 2013. it did have a revenue of £149M though.
Last year sub-zero made a post tax profit of....
Wait for it....
£967000
I googeled Top Gear profits and there are a number of different results ranging from £20M up to the £150M you suggest. The truth no doubt lies between the two.
Kudos to you for getting me to fall for your wild goose chase.
You googled their accounts? Are you quite sure the journalist involved understood them? Only, their dividends for the year totalled more than the lower end of your profit range, which pretty well shows it to be wrong. Then you'll need to pull subzeros accounts too, because whoever is writing the numbers in the article you're finding doesn't know what they're reading. Full marks for effort though.Last year sub-zero made a post tax profit of....

ETA: Let us not forget the Dave revenue or the merchandising.

Really not sure why this book on 'who's taking over from Jezza' is even being made when the answer surely is 'nobody'. Hammond and May have all but said they won't stay on without him. Given that TG is all about those three, the programme name is just that: a name. Why does anyone seriously think TG will continue to be made? It's dead, move on, nothing to see here etc. All we have to do is wait for them to pop up somewhere else.

Somewhere else will obviously be commercial funded with car makers paying big bucks for advertisements. Thus it will never be the same elsewhere. There is a chance, a slim one that someone can fill the Clarkson BBC's Top Gear vacancy and whilst it can never be the same, there's a slim possibility it could be better given time with the right replacement choice. That choice could never be the uber-annoying C.Evans.
Please note: All my opinion of course. Other opinions are available.

Also i think James May has carried himself supremely well while the reporters banged on his door and accosted him in the streets. very dignified responses i thought
now there's a profession which has an in-depth knowledge on being lamped (and going on their behaviour in the various clips seen recently) thoroughly deserve it. ScumClarkson looked like he was close to breaking down in that clip.

They'll get another team in to do TG, they won't really put the effort in because they know it will fail appallingly, by this time a year or two will have passed and things gone quiet and the BBC can do a 'Jonathan Ross' and hire him back to much less moaning by everyone when people care a lot less and the has be proven to fail without Clarkson.

not at all was it meant that way, i know the producer has been getting some stick for all this, i just thought it nice that Jeremey thought first to speack in his defence and to ask folk to stop as it was not his fault. thats all.TwigtheWonderkid said:

Some people are never satisfied. What would prefer Clarkson to say?Fair play to Tymon, for not milking the situation.

What's the basis for the figure you claim? Is it a personal estimate or can you point us in the direction of the supporting data?
Its the figure being touted in the media, also by Ben Collins.Bedder 6 had revenues of £150 million in 2013 and that was only holding half the rights.... Sub zero events aren't included in that number and they make the money from the live shows.
Then you have the dvds sales which go to another arm of the bbc.
Add to that the advertising sold on Dave, which is half owned by the bbc and consists mostly of TG repeats. £100 million profit is, if anything, erring on the side of caution. It could be half as much again.
Cnn report it as £150 million revenue. The figures on quora suggest a production cost below £15m for two seasons a year, plus cost of live shows.
So, what figures are you using and where do they come from?
"Turnover for the year was £14,169,000 (2012: £42,515,000). Turnover relates to Top Gear branded programmes and products and comprises sales or commissions from magazine and DVD publishing, and the sales of television programmes, formats, games and merchandise."

I don't know him, but will take a punt that if he, or any other big stars that come to town want a steak after performing, they get a fking steak. Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
