In the 5 years of the current mob, my meagre pension pot, ISAs and other investments have grown far more than they did (In fact some died) under Labour.

I'll be voting for them as I think they have done better for the UK than the other lot. Don't particularly like them but as said before, best of a bad bunch.

My dear departed dad was Labour through and through and despised the Tories with a passion. In fact discussing politics with him would be the only time I'd see him getting agitated.

Sorry Dad.

I voted ukip, for now, may choose conservatives on the 7th though purely because of our current voting system.

Not that it'll matter, Labour are bound to win my constituency anyway. So maybe I should vote ukip...

If only our votes were represented fairly, imagine that!

True.

You could vote UKIP or Labour until you are blue in the face but my area is staunchly Tory and will remain so.

But that isn't true

You vote UKIP, as a result LD win instead of Con. As a result Cons aren't largest party, and hence Lab/SNP are "legitimate" so get in
If only people actually liked or believed the Conservatives enough to vote for them and give them a majority eh?

Marginal Scottish seat, so Lib Dem as closest challenge to SNP\Salmond. Actually quite saddened to see the polls up here so massively in favour of the SNP, when all they want to do is make money for themselves, put us deeper in debt and give the feckless some free money.

Lib/Con marginal so can safely bet for the policies I (mostly) agree with and against CMD
without contributing to a Lab/SNP clusterfeck.

It's a LD seat at the mo which they are likely to retain. Good local MP who will likely gain votes, unless swing LD to UKIP hands it to Con silly

Odd thing to say given that you IIRC support a party with half the level of support of the Tories

A half decent job of towing the country out of the ditch labour drove us in to, so conservative vote from me.

Although think with me a waste of a vote here in Gordon with that utter G#t Salmond looking like a shoe in

Probably Conservative but they only received around 4% of the vote last time. Previously a safe Labour seat but it will either be Labour or SNP this time.

+1. The PH poll isn't even close to the national opinion polls. Are motoring enthusiasts traditionally right wing?

Plenty of time for that to grow over the years as CMD breaks yet more promises and lets more people down. The tories are a toxic party and have been for decades, they couldn't even defeat Labour in 2010 after thirteen years of what can only be described as gross ineptitude.

Maybe, everything else seems to become politicised for some reason.

There's no one size fits all here, but motoring as a hobby tends towards the more expensive of pursuits. Pursuit or preservation of personal wealth motivates people to vote for right-leaning parties, so it's not enormously surprising.

Which is fine, as long as you don't lose sight of the fact that it's a selfish niche interest and the rest of the country couldn't give a fk about it smile

It's interesting.

I find myself agreeing with an awful lot of UKIP's policies. However, even living in a staunchly Conservative area, I couldn't bring myself to vote UKIP at the GE and will vote Conservative.

There is simply too much at stake this time round to risk even the smallest chance of Lab/SNP seeing a majority either through direct voting, or vicarious success through people voting UKIP / Lib Dem (even in very safe seats) to give the Tories a kick up the arse.

The way I see it:

  • Conservatives have done an OK job over the past 5 years in bringing us back from the brink, despite being hamstrung by Lib Dem. They need another term, at least, to finish repairing the mess the last lot left us.
  • UKIP have some interesting policies that, with a bit of thought and polishing of some rough edges could prove to be beneficial to the UK, but I can't see them representing us well on the world stage. Yet.
  • Labour will, without a shadow of a doubt, set us back 10 years
  • Lab/SNP coalition will, without a shadow of a doubt, send us back to the stone age
  • Lib Dem is a wasted vote and will only serve to better Labour's position
The fundamental issue is the economy. Without a strong economy, there can be no wealth creation. Without wealth creation, tax receipts will fall. Falling tax receipts will prompt higher taxation. Higher taxation will weaken the economy. A weak economy won't be able to sustain "hard working families". Those hard working families will then increase their demand on the NHS, which won't be able to cope because the economy is weak and investment has been scaled back. And on and on and on and on and on.

You really should vote Lib Dem/Christine Jardine. No matter what you think of her - and, speaking as a die-hard Conservative, she is pretty decent as far as the Libs go - she really is our only hope of preventing that utter G#t Salmond being elected to Westminster.
