I still don't understand why voting is not compulsory people died for this right
Some people died for the right to abstain. Forcing people to vote would not result in a more informed choice, merely people doing the bare minimum to avoid being fined. It's a ghastly illiberal idea typical of the statist left.AstonZagato said:

I think compulsory voting would be a good idea so long as it was twinned with an option for 'none of the above.'
What happens when "None of the above" gets elected by a landslide?hidetheelephants said:

Anyone watching C4 news?
Bag of dirty weasels, Burnham especially. The only one speaking honestly it seems is Corbyn.
Christ listening to the other three makes me itch, just a bunch of sound-bite speakers.
Incredible wasn't it, they made him look honest, forthright and balanced, Burnham and Cooper are a shambles! Bag of dirty weasels, Burnham especially. The only one speaking honestly it seems is Corbyn.

I'm trying to think of anything CMD has actually done since May to make you think differently if him one way or another. Hasn't he spent it mostly on holiday the same as the rest of them??
Well, Osborne delivered a budget that upset the socialists. Zod said:
Your posts before 8 May showed no evidence of any respect for Cameron.
Didn't you make the exact same post in the UKIP thread?
True because I concentrated on other matters far more often back then including the very active UKIP related threads. Your failure to see evidence doesn't mean there was no respect from me. There was. Didn't you make the exact same post in the UKIP thread?
I even had my biggest bets of the year on the outcome of the GE, including an overall majority @ 13-2. Believing much of the media hype prior to the 10pm deadline, after all they are all highly regarded and hugely rewarded professionals unlike little ol' me, so obviously their judgement is sound. That their opinion that an overall majority was really out of the question, against my own judgement I have to say, I did not fill my boots. Silly me, because of that, an overall majority was not my largest winning bet. Another Tory victor carried that burden of my money which often stops them, but, fortunately for my wallet, not this May 8th....
Win some ... sometimes....
Will be very interesting to see how Cameron shapes up to our EU friends in the near and more distant future.

Burnham and Cooper, what a pair of cynical band-wagon-jumping s.
A week ago it was - oh yes, we need to protect our borders and limit the number of people coming in, bla bla bla
..but now a picture of a dead little migrant boy on has gone global, and despite the fact that migrants have been dying for months at sea and in the channel tunnel - it's 'the Prime Minister has his head in the sand' and 'we can take a few more' etc etc.
Give me fking strength.

Give you strength. That and your just reaction to it should make your resolve ever stronger. A week ago it was - oh yes, we need to protect our borders and limit the number of people coming in, bla bla bla

Absolutely pathetic band wagon jumping of the lowest order.
It has mine. Whatever happened to the news items with folks throwing others into the sea ... purely in the interests of balance.
P.S. No need to lower the standards here with the use unsavory swear words to emphasise your posts. The content does that beyond adequate.

Our election system is a farce and it is relevant the way a country is run.Proper proportional representation means you represent the whole of society.
I still don't understand why voting is not compulsory people died for this right. The politics of left and right is dying and outdated. You could put a sig paper between Labour and Conservative there is no difference.

I think Yvette has finally realised that overly vocal Labour voters are actually morons. QE is not the same as PQE and it certainly ins't "printing money"! She's bang on that this is going to be false hope for his supporters, but they don't actually understand what it all means to know it won't work. They will lie in this bed they're making themselves when Corbyn is elected and I can foresee international leaders calling out Corbyn too as they has as much to lose as we do if he's elected.

Could Corbyn actually be the catalyst that the centre-left need in order to clear out the "Socialists" and Unions once and for all?
Corbyn wins, Labour lurch to the Left. Labour get destroyed in the next GE. The party then have the justification to cut their historical (Union/Socialist) ties. Much like what happened post Foot '83.

They may loosen those ties, but I expect they'll still be firmly socialist, their leaders will still make speeches to the Fabian Society. IMO this is less desirable (than having the overt lefties at the helm) as the UK seems to end up like a slowly boiled frog.Corbyn wins, Labour lurch to the Left. Labour get destroyed in the next GE.
