and, on a different subject...

CMD promised EU budget cuts:

BBC said:
David Cameron has hailed a deal which will see the first ever real-terms cut in the European Union's budget as "good for the UK and good for Europe".
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-21379667

but, as usual, the reality is somewhat different:

it actually goes from €145Bn

http://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/policies/eu-annu...

to €155Bn

http://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/press/press-rele...

So, that's likely another ~£4M a day bill for the UK, what a bargain!

Thing is Dave isn't in the slightest bit bothered about those who will vote no. Given up on those. He is only bothered about the waverers. Strategy is to try to get something, just enough to do a Chamberlain, wave a piece of white paper, we have a binding agreement that etc. Well we know how that previous agreement went. Then the guaranteed reform to CAP negotiated allegedly by Blair in return for capitulation over the UK rebate. Brussels has for many years pressed that what remains of the rebate is no longer warranted. Expect Save to wave his white paper with some pointless reform, that won't happen in reality, part of the deal will be giving up our rebate, all hidden away in the small print.

Could have the referendum tomorrow for me, prepared to waver at one point but no longer. Leave we will be far better off standing on our own feet, be some years of hard work but better that than perpetual servitude to the unelected unwashed.

That's great news. It may only be marginally ahead but it's miles ahead of where the polls stood at election time.

A bit of a rerun of the previous Clegg vs Farage debate!

Barroso will be at this one.

There's no surprise at the lack of media exposure to this evening's debate. Farage and Sir William Cash should make a formidable partnership. It should not be Clegg representing the pro-EU team, it should be Cameron...but frankly, he has neither the balls nor gravitas to face Farage and Cash. And Boroso is the wrong partner to Clegg as he is simply too biased with too much a conflict of interest in financially saving Portugal with EU supplied UK money to give a fair representation.

@RaheemKassam: Barosso plays to the room: "I want students across Europe to enjoy freedom of movement"

@RaheemKassam: Barroso invoking Thatcher's backing of the European Common Market to bat off points made by Tory student

@RaheemKassam: Barosso currently making the argument that the EU desperately needs Britain, it's strength, and resources

@RaheemKassam: Barosso now trashing Britain: "A country of 60m people can't talk about the future of the world with China, India..."

@RaheemKassam: Barosso now channeling Obama/Froman claiming UK won't get trade deal with US if we leave EU. Except Republicans disagree.

@RaheemKassam: Barosso is asked if he believes in Uk border control. "We need stronger control of our EXTERNAL borders".
So no then.

Barroso knows full well that the EU needs Britain far more than we could ever need an uncontrollable central diktat. I'm hoping the Union will show the full debate on their site later. Just watching Lord Willoughby de Broke https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZoJb6P-RIY&li...
