Gosh, however did the police catch anyone one before email or texts had been invented?

Yes, seems there is a chance to get stuff sorted, why are the authorise not seizing stuff in the light of recent events? I do not know what is happening behind the scenes but it would seem that an awful lot of leeway has been given to him.
The Americans will have built a case before arresting. I would assume they have insiders other than the fat bloke. So one would hope they have sufficient information. The assumption would seem to be, at least from most commentators, that the idea is to pressure a number of those lower down in the hope that they will spill the beans on the one at the top.

On a slightly different tack to the corruption part in itself,

is there a tipping point where the existence of FIFA itself becomes untenable? If corruption really is from right at the top down, then how can anyone have any trust that the organisation itself will ever again be 'clean'?

I think all of the "minions" are clean.
It is the Grand Poobah's are as corrupt as heck.

Remember - it is the minions that keep leaking all of the dirty dealings to journalists. wink

One of my mates interviewed Blatter last year, he said throughout the interview he was only interested in staring at his young attractive Serbian interpreter the whole time, apparently he does have a strong reputation as a ladies man (along with a significant former premier league manager - which I was rather surprised by)

i would imagine every single bit of electronic correspondence beween officials from the last several years will already have been retrieved by the americans . if there is dirt there ,they will already have it.

Funnily enough, another well known head of a major sporting organisation is very keen on all correspondence going by fax too. I wonder why? scratchchin

Looks like FIFA forgot to throw some more money to the US Box office;

After a £17m investment from FIFA, the film only made £397 this weekend.

The Village Voice called it "not merely ham-fisted, but pork-shouldered, bacon-wristed, and sausage-elbowed".

I would say it's some sort of elaborate tax dodge, but then they don't pay tax!

Which is ironic really, because that one will probably be the 'least' corrupt one after all the sh*t that's been going off in recent years.

Meanwhile, the corrupt 2018 and 2022 one's go ahead. scratchchin

Just listened to the most recent Bugle podcast (the best/worse of FIFA) and you forget how long this sort of stuff has been going on.

For example I'd conpletely forgetten about the Jabulani ball you couldn't kick straight. Or the Manaus stadium thats currently being used as a bus depot.
