I’ve tried to share my experience of the recent events in Poland which is what the thread is about. We’re all allowed an opinion and we just happen to disagree. Racism is a much more complex issue that I’d rather not try to debate with you just now so suggest we move on...
Sure, you linked your experience with not having sympathy for people experiencing the same. I don't understand that mindset at all.
I'd rather say, if you read his post, he had no sympathy for the way the matter was spun in the media. The concept is nuanced and there is a difference between that and being entirely without sympathy for Polish people.
Already addressed above. Where was the spin? What was spun here;

Clearly, you've never been to Telford. If he wasn't Polish, they'd have found another 'excuse'.

There are some nice bits of the town, and it's handy for getting to Wales (which is lovely), but the fact the town has one of the lowest adult literacy rates in the UK should be considered.

You are right. Sun is just part of the MSM elites and well known anti-brexit rag trying to spun this as if it's anything to do with Brexit.

The Sun wants to print and sell arsewipe, end of. If printing contentious stories enables this, then they do it. The publication is not known for its cutting edge journalism.

Sun was very much pro-Brexit even before the vote. You are trying to find reasons to claim that this is nothing to do with bloke being Polish. All the available evidence is to the contrary, but there is no amount of evidence that'll change your mind.

"WARSAW (Reuters) - Poland’s ruling party lawmakers gave preliminary approval on Friday to two bills allowing parliament and the president to replace top judges, plans the opposition and the European Commission denounced as a threat to the rule of law.

Once finally approved and signed into law by the president, the bills would likely deepen the right-wing government’s standoff with the EU, potentially reducing the flow of EU development funds to Poland."

At least it will help the EU cover the hole in their coffers from 2020...

Very amusing how the MSM never seems to mention that the issue behind the removal of judges is that the outgoing Civic platform packed the Constitutional court with judges it was not actually allowed to appoint at that stage before its election defeat.

Wikipedia said:
political conflict which began in Poland in October 2015 with the appointment of five Constitutional Tribunal judges by the Civic Platform (Platforma Obywatelska, PO) party. These included the replacement of three judges whose terms were not due to expire until after first possible date of meeting of the new parliament and two judges whose terms were not due to expire until after last possible date of meeting of the new parliament.

No surprise, really. And not that amusing. We really are told a pack of lies from cradle to coffin, by and through "news" media that pretends to be giving us facts.

Sorry, I don't know what came over me! "right wing bad, left wing good!", "right wing bad, left wing good!" wink

Knuckle-dragger hatred towards Polish people in the UK was much in evidence just after the Brexit vote. The solution for being hated isn't to hate back.
Amazing you've got away with it, for so long....

I mean...how fortunate is the forum to have a contributor who is so versed, nay expert indeed, on such a spread of subjects..

Beata Szydlo resigns - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-42272808

She’s being replaced by PiS’ finance and development minister. An interesting shift as Szydlo was seen as a grassroots politician while Morawiecki‘s father was a politician and played a big part in the Solidarity movement.

A lot of development in Poland is funded by the EU, to give you an idea of some of the things funded that I’ve seen:

> Public transport
> Museums and public spaces
> Business

While they might argue with the EU, it’s actually quite beneficial for them! Wonder where I’ve heard that before...

The EU has started steps that could lead to part or full suspension of Poland from EU member rights. Reasons: threat to the rule of law.

Given that a.) the EU is losing UK subscription fees and b.) Poland is the biggest net recipient of EU funds... does this whole thing not have the fragrance of rodent about it?

Only to a conspiracy theorist. The threat to the rule of law in Poland is readily apparent.
