Far to often artists jump on band wagons to try and stay relevant, not bowie he truly was innovative.

RIP

I'm not a big fan but quite like some of his early stuff.

I know he'd been churning out albums until very recently but did he actually produce anything of note since the '80s?

Absolutely gutted.....I only have Blackstar to add to my collection to have the entire composition of all his work, including Tin Machine....a sad, sad day indeed.

I preordered the deluxe edition with the 3 lithographs for my dad for Xmas, the pack arrived the other day and he's been listening through it, and a few days later this..

Bowie has died, and the Daily Mirror website is running with the headline "Will Angie Leave The Big Brother House?"

Ffs! Is this what the world has come to?
Sadly, whilst many people (rightly) regard him as a legend, to many he will be just another 'old' musician who has died.

I'll say this; think of a list of some of the very best artists/bands from the last 30 years. A considerable number will have been influenced to some degree by David Bowie. That is a legacy in its own right, regardless of his countless other achievements.

RIP.

Never really liked him when he first appeared on the scene, though grew to love his music and the genius that he is over the years.

Listening to his publicist this morning when he said(relating to the gaps in albums)"it's almost as if he was waiting for the world to catch up" - seems apt to me.

RIP, David.

Upset me this, he really was a one off, didn't always understand what he was trying to do but I think he was the coolest person on the planet and an incredible pioneer.

RIP

Very sad, 69 is no age these days really.
And only just 69 ...his birthday was last Friday 8 January.

Still, it feels a privilege to have been there when he was young and starting his path. A long way since he was with the Manish Boys about to appear on the Beeb show Gadzooks! when I was 15. But then the 60s (and 70s) began the careers of a vast number of greats.

RIP

Mrs. Molehusband is fighting to hold back the tears with all his songs they're playing on Radio 2, and she's setting me off too!

We went to the "David Bowie Is" exhibition in London last year, she's that big an admirer. I'm pleased we went.

Trying to look on the bright side. The planet is 4.5 billion years old, yet I was here at the same time as Bowie. How lucky is that!

Sara Cox said "as DJ's we frequently have the honour and privilege of announcing momentous news on Radio 2..... Davis Bowie is dead".... (or very similar words)

No emotion or sadness in her voice.... very weird.
I heard that. She is utterly st, so dull in general and I've no idea how she persists in being employed. All last week I've been longing for Chris Evans to be back on his show and waking me up each morning. Hopefully I think he is back later this week. But that is for another thread.

Listening to the stories of him is rather interesting. He didn't play the celeb game. Walking around NYC in a flat cap with a rolled up Greek newspaper was one of his ways to fly under people's radar. biggrin

Very sad news.

I was a fan of this brilliant artist who was always ahead of the curve.

Listening to his biographer earlier, who mentioned he had suffered six heart attacks over the last couple of years and knew what was coming,as reflected in his last video,as she said even his death was a work of art.

I woke up this morning to a text from my best mate saying that Bowie had died....a month ago me and my mate were working on one of his houses, just getting it up to scratch before he re-let it. I stuck Bowie's greatest hits on in the background and we had the best sing along ever.

Really sad this morning.

Then I read Twig's post.....cheers mate! You're right! beer
