So he's got a tax on sugary drinks (but not fruit based or milk). And not his cakes.
Mm. Dunno how he managed that!As per the other thread, I understand how he managed to get it. Easy new tax, innit.

I see that now he has 'won' the sugar tax fight he is moving on to campaigning about breastfeeding.
Apparently he thinks that being a massive tit makes him an expert on the subject.
So far it seems he is being told to fk off and to mind his own business.

TBH I don't mind that one. I've got no objection to a woman breastfeeding in public (and no, it's not because I want to see breasts in public). I guess this should be on another thread?

His parents pub is ok, but recently I have eaten in his restaurant in Edinburgh, it was expensive and st, then his place at Gatwick airport, it was expensive and st, there is a theme there.
Funny that. When he opened one in our town I was going to give it a try. But so many people said it was awful that I never bothered. Marco Pierre White opened one which I did try. Indescribably awful too. What's wrong with these people?I've tried Jamie's Italian and found it to be extremely average at best and wouldn't go back. His Barbecoa place was very poor as well and I wouldn't go again.
One of the best places I have ever eaten, was Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, which was superb beyond words.
It seems to me that the less of a publicity we the owner is, the better the restaurant.
The Jamie's Italian is a chain, no more no less. To expect anything more from them than, say Strada, is giving too much credence to him. It's all about the team in the particular one you visit.
York for example is a complete pit of dross, whilst Leeds is actually OK.
To compare anything he has done to a 2 star Michelin restaurant is not really fair, they cater to differing audiences.

Hardly a fair comparison though, the last time I started at Le Manoir, dinner bed and breakfast for two cost >£1k, it's hardly a celebrity chain restaurant.Hoofy said:

I imagine the shouting and swearing from the kitchen ruins the mood.ash73 said:

I used to wonder what all the fuss was about good food until I went there, it was unbelievably good.A party of 13 of us ate there a couple of years ago for my mum's birthday and a few of us stayed the night. They gave us a little teddy bear dressed as a chef to join us for dinner as apparently it's unlucky to dine with 13 people!
I still have him in my office
