Green says Politicians not good at running businesses

UK PLC is a business

You fking muppet
I think he's right. Governments don't optimise businesses for the things you want businesses to do well. They optimise for government statistics.

I read a great article on the Soviet Whaling in the early 20th century - in the end the ships were bringing in rotten whale carcasses because the politicians were locking up captains who failed to meet targets. All this despite the fact that Russia needed barely a fraction of their annual catch. (Annoyed I can't find the article, it was a fascinating slice of history)

Ah, found it: https://fee.org/articles/why-the-soviets-slaughter...

That was my point - if we have politicians who say Governments aren't good at running businesses then it clearly shows they don't have a fking clue how to run a country QED as that I think has been proved

I was wondering if anyone would mention a Panelist founded Octane.

What's his book about and has anyone read it?

Welshbeef, that Mars Bar 944 incident is a life lesson. At least it was here in the safe environment of the Internet where nobody knows you. It's not as though you told a tall story, or made up a tale on official documentation in real life is it?

It's not just you is it? Anybody that tells a tall tale gets called out on it. What about that Rover 75/ZT forum post about some person witnessing some horrendous road rage incident with a terrible ending. Was someone so struck with remorse they threw themselves off of an M-way flyover or something? That was found out to be a made up tale and the person got called out on it.

Not telling tall tales is something you could've learnt when you were a child.

I saw a bit of Question Time on Twitter. There was some bloke in a blue shirt in the audience saying he'd always voted Tory, as he'd felt they had always had an inner core strength or some such. He said the Tories had gone soft around the edges. Surely they're in this situation as they had gone soft on the inside? Was Theresa May made of the right stuff or did she just play a long game, and have a coterie of bullying SPADs that got her through the Home Office and into Number 10?

Welshbeef, both you and Theresa May were found out. Write dud cheques or fail to walk the talk and you risk getting found out. Life is cruel.

Is S10GTA now 100HP? Look at the bashing he got for buying that rotten 405 Mi16 and that rotten Impreza Hawkeye from Scotland.

You wrote a tall tale about buying a 944, someone in Readers' Cars has bought and done a video on a 996 they paid £6500 for.

Welshbeef, perhaps you should consider some counselling if getting teased online about a tall tale is eating you that much? Why raise it? Why raise it in this thread? It could seem you're picking at a scab or self harming or something.

One way to slay that ghost may be to borrow some money get a 996 or a Boxster run it for a while and then sell it paying off the credit?

I've not seen the BBC Panorama programme about those 'Carers' working at Whorlton Hall terrorising youngsters with Autism, but people have always attacked in packs and attacked the vulnerable. Look at the news coverage of that Commodore being relieved of his command of that Aircraft Carrier. Why is that all over the media? What's going on there? It was like it before you and I arrived in the world and it'll be like it long after we're gone.

You really should br posting when you are drunk or intoxicated on any other substances.

Mental health is a massive thing depression bi polar multi personality disorder etc. Seems you appear to be utterly unaware and or how to deal with it likewise you seem to be fine with online bullying.

It's the same as when the idiots were trying a hatchet job on Boris.
"Boris is a racist"
"Boris is a homophobe"

They say it enough times and hope mud sticks.

The problem with that hatchet job was Boris' wife was Indian.
He went to Eton - so plenty of his friends/ colleagues are likely to be gay.

That doesn’t give any justification for the shocking behaviour. The crazy thing is there are posters hopping on that herd mentality yet only joined 6 odd years after the fast - there are some with usernames which clearly indicates birth year would have been in primary school at the time yet hop on the herd mentality.

Horrific - and apart from me reporting some posters the MODs did nothing to stop it which speaks volumes/ must think such behaviour is acceptable when it’s utterly not.
Fella, I've seen some ribbing going on (which if it's constant must be be a pita) but nothing horrible - though I do appreciate that what is horrible varies from person to person. There are a couple on her seem to get massive stick though 300bhp being one who stands out....

It’s clear cut enough for me - Farage is xenophobic and plays on the xenophobia of the population to gain votes.

Wiki said:
Xenophobia is the fear or hatred of that which is perceived to be foreign or strange. Xenophobia can involve perceptions of an ingroup towards an outgroup and can manifest itself in suspicion of the activities of others, and a desire to eliminate their presence to secure a presumed purity and may relate to a fear of losing nationa, ethnic or racial identity.

It was a stopper going out and we stopped at London Bridge, New Cross, Hither Green, it was not until we got past Grove Park that I could hear English being audibly spoken in the carriage. Does that make me feel slightly awkward? Yes it does. I don't understand them … I don't feel very comfortable in that situation and I don't think the majority of British people do.

But this is what I mean - who would be digging around searching for things 12 years ago?

It’s not normal.

When down the pub playing pool over a few jars of course you hear some whoppers which sometimes are played out and it goes wrong - but not once has that ever drifted over more than a week / people move on extremely quickly - online it seems odd & I can only put it down to Millenials (generally they are T total now and seem to think they have had such life experiances over much older individuals.

Lastly bizarrely people think a lie even a shocker over a couple of weeks (which was harmless about buying a scrap car when drunk on eBay) my god what weak pathetic live those individuals must have to firstly have an impact on them and secondly for 7-8 years. If such a trivial thing impacts them so much they are ill prepared for the real world where deceit lies corruption self interest happens all the time.

Take Garlick who gave the ban but then disappeared and is off social media.... say no more. Then different MODs refuse to ban other members for the exact infringement per T&Cs ... that is not right and I have pulled them up on it bunberous times yet they refuse to comment. (Sole reason I bring it up is 7-8 years of continuous bullying forces your hand)

Alastair Campbell did a documentary on mental health on BBC earlier this week. People haven't forgotten his role in promoting the Dodgy Dossier. As far as I am concerned Campbell can do what he does from a cell he shares with Blair. They can take it in turns to be allowed out at weekends with an electronic tag on their ankles.

Posting on an Internet forum that you've bought a non existent Porsche 944 is normal?

Detractors of selective schools say those that fail the 11 Plus are marked, ruined for life. We're all judged by our past achievements and conduct. That's the way it is.

It’s interesting all this discussion on QT about the nastiness now and driven by social media etc - well I can say I’ve seen it here some posters say shockingly nasty hurtful things to others they even hound follow down and are like a herd egging each other on.

I refer to the 944 & Mars bar 7-8 YEARS ago and yet in all that time and even here current it’s the same.
Unclear why people are like that and clearly the language and style used would never be done face to face its horrible and needs to stop.
Easy to make it a better place but all usernames must istep up and help police this site and help nip in the bud those who think they can get away with being utterly vile hateful and shocking behaviour.
THe sorts that do this have low value of themselves in their head, an easy way to level-up is to attack/belittle/knock out others. It doesn't do it in reality, but it levels them up inside their own head. They should probably be pitied and helped, but as with a lot of things, it becomes too much, gains momentum and one usually ends up fighting fire with fire. Of course in real life they'd get stepped-on, but the web is an emboldening tool for cowards.
