Someone on Twitter commented on his watch. Any ideas from the PH watch experts what watch it is?

It was a stopper going out and we stopped at London Bridge, New Cross, Hither Green, it was not until we got past Grove Park that I could hear English being audibly spoken in the carriage. Does that make me feel slightly awkward? Yes it does. I don't understand them … I don't feel very comfortable in that situation and I don't think the majority of British people do.

Perhaps I’m out of step, but it doesn’t make me feel uncomfortable in the slightest to be among Polish, Urdu, Ukrainian, Turkish, or whatever speakers on London’s subway trains or buses, likewise in supermarkets.

Excellent question and one that raises intrigue for me scratchchin

I suppose, thinking aloud here, it depends on the context? The definition began with “fear of that which is strange” - that’s obviously too lose for xenophobia as we would imagine it. Farage is talking to people about immigrants and how he feels uncomfortable if foreigners aren’t speaking English. He is trying to leverage the awkwardness and discomfort.

In the Welsh pub example you say you felt ‘a bit awkward’ which isn’t as strong as what NF was inferring, in my view. Also I suppose it’s natural and normal to feel a bit awkward if you don’t know what someone else’s conversation is but it’s just part of life in a multilingual society.

I agree, however, given your use of the phrase “subway trains” I suspect you are also a visitor, so not necessarily well placed to opine.

No, London does not have a subway, it has 'the Underground', colloquially known as the tube.

I’ll have to hide behind my intransigent old man on this, he never called it anything but the subway, or subway trains, my mother would say, “Underground, they call it the Underground you fool.”

I was wondering if anyone would mention a Panelist founded Octane.

What's his book about and has anyone read it?

Welshbeef, that Mars Bar 944 incident is a life lesson. At least it was here in the safe environment of the Internet where nobody knows you. It's not as though you told a tall story, or made up a tale on official documentation in real life is it?

It's not just you is it? Anybody that tells a tall tale gets called out on it. What about that Rover 75/ZT forum post about some person witnessing some horrendous road rage incident with a terrible ending. Was someone so struck with remorse they threw themselves off of an M-way flyover or something? That was found out to be a made up tale and the person got called out on it.

Not telling tall tales is something you could've learnt when you were a child.

I saw a bit of Question Time on Twitter. There was some bloke in a blue shirt in the audience saying he'd always voted Tory, as he'd felt they had always had an inner core strength or some such. He said the Tories had gone soft around the edges. Surely they're in this situation as they had gone soft on the inside? Was Theresa May made of the right stuff or did she just play a long game, and have a coterie of bullying SPADs that got her through the Home Office and into Number 10?

Welshbeef, both you and Theresa May were found out. Write dud cheques or fail to walk the talk and you risk getting found out. Life is cruel.

Is S10GTA now 100HP? Look at the bashing he got for buying that rotten 405 Mi16 and that rotten Impreza Hawkeye from Scotland.

You wrote a tall tale about buying a 944, someone in Readers' Cars has bought and done a video on a 996 they paid £6500 for.

Welshbeef, perhaps you should consider some counselling if getting teased online about a tall tale is eating you that much? Why raise it? Why raise it in this thread? It could seem you're picking at a scab or self harming or something.

One way to slay that ghost may be to borrow some money get a 996 or a Boxster run it for a while and then sell it paying off the credit?

I've not seen the BBC Panorama programme about those 'Carers' working at Whorlton Hall terrorising youngsters with Autism, but people have always attacked in packs and attacked the vulnerable. Look at the news coverage of that Commodore being relieved of his command of that Aircraft Carrier. Why is that all over the media? What's going on there? It was like it before you and I arrived in the world and it'll be like it long after we're gone.
You really should br posting when you are drunk or intoxicated on any other substances.

Mental health is a massive thing depression bi polar multi personality disorder etc. Seems you appear to be utterly unaware and or how to deal with it likewise you seem to be fine with online bullying.
This is a thread about Question Time. It's one of the few topical programmes about politics that has relevance.
Likewise This Week is often discussed as one is directly after the other programme.
The thread can be very humorous at times and TBH is my favourite thread in this place.
there are plenty of places you can go and discuss whatever issues you have or wish to project upon other people. Withering on looking for sympathy/ concern on this thread isn't the best place to do it.
Put it another way this is a bit of a party - the counselling sessions are held in another building

................. the reason I’m stepping down after 16 years and regularly getting 1m audience at midnight (no other show gets that on weekdays) is that the BBC didn’t want to move it to an earlier time. BBC2 at 7pm would be fine with me. We could get 2m!"

I WAS a Black Cab driver, I returned my licences and identifiers in February 2012, now, as a poor old pensioner, I make use of my Freedom Pass, but still use Black Cabs occasionally cool
In addition, I’m still trying to figure out where simoid thinks that I may have missed out a comma. confused

I suspect there is a bit more to this. Its not as if they couldnt have recorded it earlier and play it at the same time as now, so its not the late night per se that annoyed Neil. But maybe his pay is related to his viewing figures. Expect Neil to popup on Sky not long after TW finishes. Wouldnt surprise me if Portillo follows.
