Triple QX engine oil...Thoughts?

tbox C5.I have been using it on my van, car, super scooter and FiL's 4x4.
Chucked it in lawnmowers, generators anything that has a four stroke.
Used to use halfords stuff in their deals but this is cheaper and fully synthetic (usually get it on the buy one get one free deals)
Been absolute fine, no difference, about 40k on the van now, 20 on the car and 12 on the scooter.
Unless you are trackdaying it, get the right weight and regular changes and you will be fine, your motor wont turn in to a clown car and exploded down the road.

I tried it in the 530d and there was a significant increase in noise. I guess the more expensive oils probably add in additional noise suppressants, whereas Triple QX probably saves a little on cost by not adding in the less critical additives.
Other than that, I can't really comment.. I had intended to send the oil for analysis when I changed it out but didn't bother in the end.
General consensus is, it meets LL04 spec, but probably only just. So early changes are probably advised.

Interesting Never had any trouble with it. It is actually approved to some quite high standards (not just "meets the spec" but approved).
It is approved to MB 229.3 & 229.51 for example.
Thousands of litres of the stuff get sold and put in cars everyday so if it was bad you'd hear.
Rumour has it, it is made by Shell under contract.

That's what I've always thought. If it was 10% sharp sand & 90% sewerage I think we'd be aware...It is approved to MB 229.3 for example.

Sounds like fear/ lack of confidence ( I can understand that as a motivator, expensive car and would hate to be the one that did something that ruined it) rather than a fact based reasoned decision. Then one person says you shouldn't because maybe/probably/it could/don't cry to me if... based on assumptions/own fears/ belief that the branded well advertised expensive stuff just must be better just because.

It must be said that generally you get what you pay for. Not a hard and fast rule of course but generally.
Anyway while I'd consider using TripleQX, when the time came to service my £250 shed I saw Shell Helix was four quid more and you got 25% more in the bottle. I trust Shell more.
FYI 'noise suppressant' is a new one on me.
