At about the same time that particular speculation hit the news, there were other news bulletins that mentioned an overdose of prescription meds.

Thought the meds/painkillers were for a well known hip problem; due to being a Jehovas Witness he had refused surgery on it.

And apparently it's being looked into as to whether this is related to painkillers prescribed by a doctor. This was a possibility back in April. See post a few below this one.

If there is any truth to the stories of him turning down the hip operation (which then led to the painkiller addiction) because of his religious beliefs then that really is quite sad - what a waste of a life.

The doctor who illegally prescribed the opioids gets away with a $30k fine and will face no other action and can carry on practicing medicine. What a strange system they have over the pond.
