Is jail time an actual possibility over this? By that I mean, is that a likely outcome. I know its an option but I don't think its in the public's interest.
Given prosecution were seeking a charge that raised the potential jail time to 5 years, I suspect that is their goal.

Was he found guilty by jury or by judge?

Talk about a fking massive grey area.
Don't judge a book by its cover! I think I called him a moron earlier; how stupid do I feel. That said, taking authoritarian legislation and officious enforcement head on like that is either very brave, very stupid or possibly a bit of both. Good luck to him.
Your initial reaction is probably quite natural.
Good on you for looking further and looking past his odd personal presentation to see what may actually be underneath it all thumbup

"so what you're saying is" . jordan peterson wasn't joking.
Peterson has been lecturing on this stuff to his classes for years.
It was only when Canada brought in Bill C-16 and compelled speech that he became widely known for his views and videos.
Thankfully many other intellectuals, and popular youtube presenters, were on the same path, and were able to support him and offer a wider platform.

'The road to Hell is paved with good intentions', but let us kid ourselves not, there are people intent on taking us straight to Hell without any of the good intentions at all.

Yeah, he hasn't been joking about this at all.

Edit: Speeling

A little off topic but a lot of the replies are based on this case...

Met Police thought it would be fun to open up a thread "Good Morning! We're here & ready to help with your non-emergency enquiries. Hope you have a great day. #Heretohelp"

The results are quite entertaining.

I wish Police Scotland's account was a parody.

"Hate Crime includes:

• Offensive graffiti
• Damaging or stealing property
• Shouting, swearing, threatening or physically attacking
• Online abuse through social media, websites or emails.

Be #GreaterThanAHater and report hate!"

Shouting at anyone with a different belief to you is a hate crime.

so does that mean me shouting at atheists or them at me constitutes a hate crime and we'll both be locked up? What about if some transperson is stupid enough to try and pull me (their pull a pig night I guess) and I turn them down for having excessively modified plumbing I'm guilty of a hate crime or are they for trying to pull a pig?

TBH, its pretty logical if common sense is applied. If I wrote fk the (insert religion/ethnic group) in foot high letters outside their place of worship or home I'd expect to fall under this. That's not funny, that's a hate crime.

However, a daft video about a dog reacting to a gas the jews.... just naw.

Linehan done himself no favours in all of that.

His latest spat is with Omid Djalili who is also making a bit of a dick of himself.

We keep being told they don't have enough resources - but the Youtube patrol squad is clearly well provisioned.

I'm sure if we look hard enough we can find something the judge has said that has offended someone.

His judgement is clearly suspect, I can see how that might offend someone.

how does this work if vegans perceive that our eating a lovely, juicy steak is offensive?

What I find scary is that most of the population are oblivious to this, the majority do not realise they have been sleep walking into a police state, where actual thought crime is now a reality.

I think that things are going to get a lot worse, as the judge who found this guy guilty has the same mind set as most who have power, whether government, civil service, police, schools, universities. Things have already gone too for anyone to reverse this.

ETA - Also, it is the same hive mind set that allows little children to be sacrificed at the alter of 'diversity', I say allows because I have no doubt this st is going on in most towns and cities. yet they pick on the little guy, the easy targets, even if they have to make st up, law-wise to teach the little guy a lesson. Either they are huge cowards or there's another agenda at work - but that's entering tin foil hat territory. However, if I was told a decade ago that a guy could be arrested and potentially imprisoned for a joke video, I would not have believed it. I think we have all been subjected to the boiling frog treatment, and some are starting to notice.
