I take it Scotland is totally crime free now if the police, CPS and courts can waste time over this.
Totally gone... and these aren't taken from simply the front page on the BBC News site today either.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west...

Clearly it's completely in our interest, as people who live in the Glasgow area, to go after folk teaching their dogs silly tricks vs tacking actual crime.
160 min long interview between the guy that setup the crowdfunding (a fairly reputable Esports journalist / television host) and the guy being charged.

The arrest and charges of any description relating to his video are the true outrage.
Beats me how it even got as far as the questioning stage. Any police officer on watching the video could see it for what it was- a joke. Maybe a poor one, but that is not a crime. No reason to talk to or arrest anyone, except possibly the complainant.
Doesn't say much for the discretion of anyone involved in the prosecution.

As best as I can find is that it's generally being defined as 'hate speech against Jews'.
None of the news articles or his videos specifically name the charge as far as I can see.

An interesting statement from one of the accused's videos, is he thanks Jewish people who have contacted him to offer their support, he then states that as much as he appreciates this, only Scottish Jews would be allowed to give evidence on his behalf (presumably as to their lack of offence taken).
So if you really want to help this guy, and you know any Scottish Jews who might be sympathetic to his plight...

I had missed this (and the youtube video) - I almost fell off the couch laughing when I saw that wee pug doing the salute. He even starts the video by saying he's teaching the dog to do the "least cute thing he could think of". If you take offense to that and not take it for the humour it is intended then you need some serious help.
With these charges the law needs to consider intention, obviously this was not the guys intent to cause offence so the charge is ridiculous.

What law has the guy actually broken?
Apart from Godwin's?
Inciting the Dog to commit a hate-crime?Apart from Godwin's?
(Grooming perhaps... )
Do the police have any other leads.
Have they made a collar?
Can someone explain to me how what this guy did is different to when Borat sang "throw the Jews down the well", or the "no more catholics left" song from T2? Why are there allowable, or can only established actors use comedy with sensitive subjects? Perhaps we are due to see Ewan McGregor before the magistrates in Kilwinning soon?

Presumably they'd claim that they aren't their views but those of the character they are portraying. In Borat's case he is portrayed as being an idiot because of his views, and the person playing him is Jewish.irocfan said:
does that mean that if were were to call the scrottish polis a bunch of unless, no-mark, over-politicised s who get off on behaving in a way that would make the gestapo proud that we could get prosecuted for it?
They don't have enough jail cells in the whole of Scotland to arrest every one who thinks this!!I do hope some one has pointed out this thread to some Scottish police force who can then point the idiots in charge in the right direction.

I think it's reasonable to conclude that Inspector David is too far gone to be helped.Telegraph said:

I would ask anyone who has had the misfortune to have viewed it to think about the pain and hurt the narrative has caused a minority of people in our community.
The clip is deeply offensive and no reasonable person can possibly find the content acceptable in today’s society.
This arrest should serve as a warning to anyone posting such material online, or in any other capacity, that such views will not be tolerated.

He is clearly incapable of recognising the actual fascists in this whole sorry tale.
That such poorly educated people have this much control in any society is deeply worrying.

Indeed. I'm obviously not a "reasonable person" as I had a good chuckle at it....thought policing at its bestHe is clearly incapable of recognising the actual fascists in this whole sorry tale.

Ouch. That ought to be a career suicide note. If he really thinks the issue is that cut and dry, then he doesn't have the right temperament to be making these kind of judgement calls. If he's actually moving into arse-covering mode by daring people to support this tasteless, childish, offensive stunt (that still made me laugh) ...I would ask anyone who has had the misfortune to have viewed it to think about the pain and hurt the narrative has caused a minority of people in our community.

We don't need the Police to be moral arbiters delivering trite little homilies like this. Indeed we need them to positively distance themselves from that kind of judgment when dealing with the sensitive grey area between legitimate freedom of speech and its criminal abuse. Gather the evidence, see if it meets the criteria, engage with the CPS, etc, don't start trying to tell us what constitutes an acceptable view to hold.
