I'm just listening to his victory speech, the one he had quite a lot of time to prepare.

Whilst I appreciate I'll be accused of criticising him whatever he says or does, I'm listening and he just sounds like a shambolic oaf.

Go listen to it if you haven't already done so.

Utterly bizarre.

So now that we have a Brexiteer in charge of leaving on Oct 31st. If for some reason this doesn't happen (you know, democracy and all that) would the naysayers be open to a 2nd referendum? If a Brexiteer can't get past the deadlock of Deal/No Deal/Irish back stop, then who can?

Except he's only pretending to be a Brexiter.........had he thought The vote was going to be Leave he would have been a Remainer....IMO anyway..........time will tell wink

Why would we have a second referendum? A GE seems much more appropriate to me. I think it also gives Remain more of a chance than they'd have with a 2ndref.

I think there's little doubt that he is uncommitted. He's only a leaver because he thought it would give him a better chance of advancement. He doesn't care either way. He admitted as such. If you search previous articles he wrote pre-referendum you'll find lots of positive views on staying in the EU. He only said those things to curry favour of course.

His speech started with 'Good morning', the time was actually 12.05pm.

You are right, thats far more logical. I do hope BJ can move us forward though, with a deal or a managed no deal.

A pretty good and damning read

Now of course, many of you don't like Soubry and it's clear Soubry doesn't think much of Johnson, but it doesn't seem far off the mark.

This has become a trend for many many decades, The great British EMPIRE running around like a puppy after the yanks.
Here's another example, the US puts a bafoon in charge of the country, the UK follow the leader and find the closest thing that resembles what the US, put a poor man's equivalent to donald trump, happens to be this Boris the Bafoon.

Really quite embarrassing.

Trump is already comparing Boris to himself.

Praise indeed.

There is some doubt as to whether Trump has read any books but he certainly hasn't written any, Boris has written several. Hardly the closest thing we could find. Boris is positively intellectual compared with say Piers Morgan, who is intellectual compared with Trump.

How would that give remain more of a chance?

Under FPTP you have three outcomes

1) A tory win
2) A Labour win
3) A hung parliament.

As 3 is currently the most likely how do you think that would work out?

Labour are not a pro remain party and even if they were many pro remainers are unlikely to vote for a party that tolerates anti semitism and is led by a bigger womble than the tories.

Unlike in the past where one or the other party would implode we have the two main parties in a virtually unelectable state in a system that makes it next to impossible to get rid of them.

I don't currently think a 2nd ref will happen but to say an election would give remain a chance is nonsensical and disingenuous

There are quite a few in here who could do with throwing off the ropes of self doubt and negativity.

The sun will still rise and set, 99% of life will continue exactly as always.

Boris could be exactly the shot in the arm the UK needs. Good to have a optimist as PM
