Unbelievable. Who was this officer with? Who trained them? Who monitors them? There's a lot of culpability there.

The judge (George H Foster Jr, Maricopa County Superior Court) prevented that bodycam evidence from being shown during the trial after the prosecutor and the murderer's lawyer argued for it to be sealed.

The judge also prevented the inscription of the murderer's weapon from being shown ('you're fked'). The murderer had been accused of inappropriate force during an arrest in the previous weeks but I haven't found anything on that.

The murderer's father (also named Philip Brailsford) was a lieutenant in the same police department and had worked in the department’s Internal Affairs Unit. Left in 2015 after 19 years, now works at 'Fennemore Craig'.

Maricopa County had Joe Arapaio as its Sheriff for 24 years. They sound like a bunch of special people.

I don't understand why the prosecution and the defence both wanted to prevent the release of the vid.

I'm not sure that reporting is correct. Other reports talk of the jury being shown it. I can't see how they wouldn't be given its relevance.

Perhaps the issue may be surrounding the footage not being made public until the trail was over.

I read the video was 'sealed' during the trial, i.e. the jury saw it, but it was not released to the public.

I can't see any good reason at all for that man to end up dead, or the person who shot him not to be in jail.

Even if the suspects movements could be considered as reaching for a handgun, then totally useless and contradictory instructions shouted at him put him in that position.

I read it incorrectly. I thought the article linked earlier was suggesting it had been withheld from the jury when it meant withholding it from the public / media.

In terms of withholding it from the public / media during the trial, it could be over concerns of influencing the jury / causing protests that risk disrupting the trial / a fair trial etc.

If I didn't know better the pictures of that officer would make me think he was a member of one of those Aryan groups.

Not that every heavily tattooed short haired thug with a gun would have that social circle but there is the look of a prime candidate...

Well at least the Cop that shoot Walter Scott was convicted (eventually after a hung jury & a mistrial) & was sentenced to 19 years.

He only got convicted because he'd broken some Federal laws which meant when he went in front of the Judge he could also find him guilty of murder otherwise he'd be free too.

Been there a few times and had a great time. Wouldn't want to be a police officer there though.

just don't get lost and accidentally threaten a home owner by walking non aggressively up there pathway to knock on the door, Americans have history, not just police officers of shooting people, sometimes through the shut door, innocuous people asking for help.

Clearly, you haven't looked too closely at some ARV crews

Most prefer hair gel though. And crayons.
