I think the #bekind hashtag is a good thing - if it is used simply say, treat other people as you would wish to be treated, then it's clearly not misappropriation.
Indeed, if it stops one person posting something truly vile and vitriolic to someone else, then it's worked. There have been times where I have wanted to tear a poster a new one on here, for example, but the phrase "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" has echoed in my head and made me reassess and stop.

Likewise. I am always at pains to play the ball, not the man, but at times on here it is tricky, not least because of the invective manner of certain posters.

Interesting ... bookmarked that for a spare moment later today. Thanks for the share.

Good programme, though the echoey voice effect on the quotes was hard on my ears.

Very un-BBC too!

Science does have three sexes, intersex is a biological state. Very rare though.
You are mistaken. Intersex exists, but it is not a sex. TRAs bandy around a lot of pseudoscience, and straightforward science denial, but there are just two sexes. Gender is fluid, because gender is a social construct. Sex is not fluid. The regressive nature of TRA approaches is shown by the notion that to be a man or to be a woman is to conform to social stereotypes of the masculine or the feminine. TRAs also attack same sex attraction (trans away the gay). This is why progressive feminists and progressive LGB people oppose the regressive, misogynistic and homophobic ideas that underpin the current surge in trans extremism.

Meanwhile, an MSP is making a fool of herself on Twitter by accusing those who complained about an adult sex entertainer called Flow Job being invited to a primary school of being homophobic, although many complaining are themselves LGB or tarns people who care about safeguarding.

Want a role model? Why not invite a female engineer, or a male nurse, or a gay or lesbian or bisexual soldier, farmer, whatever? Why convey to children the idea that to be gay is to be a drag queen who has a soft porn website?

TRA is here used as shorthand for the extremists amongst trans groups (many of whom are of course sensible and moderate and pro science) . Many TRAs are aggressively and obviously male, but they say that all they that a man has to do is declare himself a woman and then he magically becomes one. Any woman who opposes them is branded a TERF and shouted down, doxxed, accused of hate speech, forced out of her job, deplatformed, etc. TRAs have captured Stonewall (formerly a sensible LGB lobbying group), and have also captured many government agencies, in a takeover unlike any seen in any genuine civil rights movement.

What government agencies have they captured? (Serious question)

Sections of the police, education authorities, the Scottish Government, parts of the CPS. I am unable (and indeed unwilling) to do research for you, but have a look at the various guidelines being issued by and for the use of various bodies.

Sex is a legally protected characteristic, and single sex spaces and services are legally protected, but some agencies are acting on an incorrect reading of the law that neglects that point in favour of gender self identity. Serious issues as to the safety of women and of girls, including safeguarding in contexts such as schools and youth organisations, are raised by this stuff. There are also serious free speech issues, with attempts to silence women and LGB people who oppose the TRA position.

EDIT to add refs from a good speech in the Lords by Lord Lucas:

"Why are we seeking to make women feel unsafe in the toilet provision we make for them—unsafe and uncomfortable? What is the justification for it? Who is gaining an advantage in this process?"

...

"Stonewall should put away its kimono and baseball bat and settle down to the idea that maybe it needs to modify its rather extreme views."

Think it was Lenny Henry (when he was funny) who did a bit of a routine about "skin coloured plasters" Amazing what once was a joke is now a product.

Me neither, actually seems like a good idea. There is a difference between doing something that’s inclusive and doing something because someone may get offended if you don’t.

I suspect this particular thing is much more the former than the latter.

I wonder if using a darker plaster than your skin tone will be considered cultural appropriation?
